Even if we did, we are flawed. Yahweh is supposed to be omnibenevolent and omnipotent, but the best way he can think to deal with flawed beings is to drown them in a a flood in a global genocide?

you should re-read it ideally in hebrew
you have to consider water mystically if you are to truly understand the flood (remember the earth was formless like dark water upon creation)
