Yes as a kid Harlem felt desolate. Every time me and my mom went to any street above 96th it felt opposite than midtown. Now Harlem is very crowded

Harlem was gritty, East New York was probably the original "IRAQ", Queens had the Kingpins... but the Bronx in the 1980s was a legit a 7th world country.. my Mom had a small ass apartment in Hunts Point, landlord use to come around every other week tryna burn the building down
