This is the nyc i woke up at three years old.

I still remember looking out the window at that age.
being as much adventure as anything i ever saw.
It was night time too and the place was alive.

I am probably a night owl legit from that.

Except cleaner because it was upnorth in chicago.
The scenes from color of money and this ooze nostalgia.
Of when a city was a city frfr.

To be fair, it's terribly indicative of institutional racism...

At the same time, living through it means seeing that footage ironically reminds me of my innocence and my family and my parents. None of which are here anymore.

I. My brother's girlfriend, Tamika, babysat me while my brother was running the street. I was around 6. My mother would have been tight that he left me.

Anyway, we went into a corner store in - I want to say Bushwick but I was too young to really know. It was either Bushwick or Fort Greene in Brooklyn..

While in the corner store, there was something going on outside and then everybody in the corner store dropped down and Tamika grabbed me down and shots started to go through the corner store.

I remember Tamika saying, "DAVID, DON'T TELL MOMMY!!!"

She would have beat my brother and slapped her.

1) I watched a crackhead jump off the top of the roof across the street from my building and he lived....he actually walked off after landin...


2) my moms walked me to school in the morning through Jackie Robinson park on Edgecombe ave and we watched a guy shoot another guy in the face several times....that was the last time we dared to walk through that side of the park...I was only 8 but realized what time it was from that day forth....
