As a regular club goer I have noticed over the past few summers that girls get more turnt up to Afrobeats than Dancehall 
I think the fact that it ain't as vulgar and aggressive helped. It's lyrically like 90's R&B.

it's been the wave since 2016 and only growing, to the breh that said it's just a trend. this aint a trend buddy this a lifestyle for some us, get used to it
Dancehall is so bad right now .
No memorable riddims just a bunch of wack gunman tunes and way too over sexual music .
I know that’s always been in dancehall and that’s why it differs from reggae but most of the songs are wack.

If your experience with reggae is Kartelite-era imbalance, then it will seem so. Afrobeat is growing by leaps and bounds but it hasn't caught up yet to even dancehall, much less reggae as a whole.

afrobeat has all the momentum. look at the population of Nigera, ghana, kenya ivory coast etc. the places producing musical talent on the continent. shyt london, NY, Houston, Atlanta, DC all have alot of africans. let alone euro countrys with african populations. Afrobeats has room to grow still. but if you look at the size of a country like jamaica or any carib nation its not even a fair comparison

Wizkid is much better than this come on now.
Kartel still the GOAT though, and he’s been working with Afrobeats artist also
Burns Boys album is the best album of 2019 though for me all genres, I’d advise any black music lover to go listen to that album, a lot of Afrobeats and Dancehall artists are single artists, very few have an album like African Giant.
