Afrobeats is played where the women be at....day parties, clubs, lounges, etc whatever

it's a gauge on mass appeal and popularity.

as I posted previously.

On a popular hip hop station in Chicago, they even do a afrobeats show on Sunday nights.

nikkas from Englewood to Roseland now have exposure to international black music on the airwaves which I think is incredible.

This wouldn't have happened 15 years ago and neither would it have been popular.

I love the show and apparently it's popular from what I hear.

It hasn't caught on in the US, but in the UK and Europe where people are more open minded and receptive to new things.

The global landscape of music has really changed, but you won't notice if youre only looking at the US.

Some of us travel internationally, and American music doesn't play on the radio anymore anywhere.

America used to make the world's music, and was relied upon for decades up until the drop in quality starting around 2000 due to lazyiness and complacency..thus forcing the world to give up on the US and produce for themselves and they have never looked back.

Besides hip-hop, r&b, soul, pop-punk/emo….I grew up on African music (old school Nigerian music, early 2000s hip-hop like JJC & the 419 squad, 9ice, Mo’Hits, etc), Dancehall, Reggae, and Soca.

This is categorically false. I used to live in Botswana and South Africa and R&B/Hip Hop is still being played on the radio. I actually know someone who works for a radio station in Gab and she told me R&B and early/mid 2000s hip hop is still the most popular.

You wont hear nba youngboy and lil durk, but yeah..

It still gets play, but not like before where they played everything, now they actually have quotas where they have to play a certain percentage of local vs foreign. When I was in SA, I didnt hear a single US song.
The South African Afro Pop, House and Amapiano scene has now completely taken over breh.

You will most definitely hear Youngboy and lil durk in West Africa that I can PROMISE you, infact Youngboy has the most insane fan base I have ever seen in my life. As I'm typing this I'm cussing out one of my cousins for remotely even insisting I buy tickets to his concert. That nikkas music is TRASH

Yeahh.. this is false as well breh. Literally just spent almost the entire year out there. Maybe you were in Limpopo or something but I'm not sure how tapped in you are to the scene but they play rap/hip hop at Tempo, Saints, Opera (they literally have hip/hop and r&b nights on Tuesdays and Trap music night Thursdays lol), Louis, and Montana.

Amapiano is obviously the most popular genre being homegrown but Hip/Hop and R&B is still heavily played. Travis scott concert coming up is literally sold out lol. We're talking about SA here, which is basically a microcosm of the west lol
