Just play the game. Sell yourself. Network with other professionals in the field you WANT TO work in. Get to know them and their companies. Ask for an introduction to the owner/manager. Build relationships. Outside of my VERY FIRST entry level job out of high school I never have even actually applied to my new postions. It's all about relationships and being in the circle YOU WANT to be in. Build your skill set.

More and more people in the work force everyday and same amount of jobs. It's competitive just like anything in life. You got to be better than the next person.

Like it has been mentioned exaggerate say you worked at your last position longer or other potions longer to close the gap in time :whoa: give them the number of someone who you know will go a long with you. Like a cool co-worker or even a cool manager if you have one that would. If not friends/family that aren't idiots.

My current job, I had to say I wasn't the owner of my last one so they wouldn't think about conflict of interest. I had them call my mom because they couldn't call me even though the business number is connected to my phone they just left a message and my mom called them back. :heh:

Never lie about things you aren't experienced in like don't say you worked someone or volunteered some where and know nothing about it. People say be honest and I agree that's the best way. When you have been out of work tho... Truth is employers do not like employment gaps even with the economy. They want to know you have been being productive or why no one else would hire you for such a long amount of time. Its not fair but that's how it is.

Say you travel led the country breh. Climbed the rockies, sailed the eastern seaboard, or biked cross country. Some unverifiable shyt that makes you interesting. At my old job I was privy to resumes from some entry level jobs that were highly desirable and all these ivy league student climbed Mt everest worked on an African village or back packed through asia. You weren't out of work desperately waiting, you were finding yourself and accomplishing something and are ready to get going again. Plus they'll think you're white.
:mindblown: my mind is blown breh excellent advice cant believe I never thought of this

Yes, I have friends from the city who are managers or who own their business so I have them write references and say I worked as their assistant or stuff like that.
