Yes, I have. With an elite company as well but I had the traits, work ethic, and personality they were looking for. That's why they choose me. That and I strongly believed God was using me as a vessel. It worked out as well. Generally, people aren't going to hire you if you are underqualified. It's even less likely if you are overqualified. They look for more of the same from where you came from and they really want a white version of what you are the most if they can find it.

Lowkey, the role I’m in now is kinda like that. I said I knew SQL (I do) but the level required for this role is levels above what I have. However, I’ve been growing into the role since my general business knowledge is quite good.

This. You need a confidant to ask stupid questions, preferably not your manager or someone on the team.
I know I'm kind of late but I wouldnt worry too much about something like that, because they usually train you, how they want their data handled. You can always ask questions. The most important thing is to be a quick and diligent learner.

No.

I did indicate a much higher familiarity with a platform than I had though-company used a competitor anyway and learning it wasn’t really a huge leap in skillset/difficult.

I just landed a senior business analyst position with a company that originally wanted someone with extensive SQL reporting experience. Luckily, they changed the requirements for someone who has more knowledge of the business and they will help the new employees with getting up to par with coding. Finding someone who can help you in the beginning with getting up to speed and show that you are will to learn will help you overcome that imposter syndrome. Companies will be patient if you show effort into learning the role if you not at their level the beginning.
Hey how were you able to pass the interview without freezing up? Cause for me, I'm getting interviews for BA roles. But I always freeze when it's time to tell specific stories.

It was more of an informal conversation than drilling me about SQL. They did ask a few technical questions in which I answered but at the time, they needed someone who has mortgage servicing experience and they was willing to help me get up to speed on doing SQL in a working environment. Sometimes it’s really about timing and being lucky in a job search.

As for freezing up, go to YT and look up BA interviews and how to respond. Think of examples beforehand that you can easily explain how you handled it. Each interview is going to have a STAR question and you have to work on preparing for those questions.

Yeah, a role as a transportation and infrastructure technologist lol.

Transferable skills (electronic technician) really helped me and a lot of networking.

Like breh said above me, the STAR METHOD is Godly.
