I know I'm kind of late but I wouldnt worry too much about something like that, because they usually train you, how they want their data handled. You can always ask questions. The most important thing is to be a quick and diligent learner.Lowkey, the role I’m in now is kinda like that. I said I knew SQL (I do) but the level required for this role is levels above what I have. However, I’ve been growing into the role since my general business knowledge is quite good.
This. You need a confidant to ask stupid questions, preferably not your manager or someone on the team.
Hey how were you able to pass the interview without freezing up? Cause for me, I'm getting interviews for BA roles. But I always freeze when it's time to tell specific stories.I just landed a senior business analyst position with a company that originally wanted someone with extensive SQL reporting experience. Luckily, they changed the requirements for someone who has more knowledge of the business and they will help the new employees with getting up to par with coding. Finding someone who can help you in the beginning with getting up to speed and show that you are will to learn will help you overcome that imposter syndrome. Companies will be patient if you show effort into learning the role if you not at their level the beginning.
It was more of an informal conversation than drilling me about SQL. They did ask a few technical questions in which I answered but at the time, they needed someone who has mortgage servicing experience and they was willing to help me get up to speed on doing SQL in a working environment. Sometimes it’s really about timing and being lucky in a job search.Hey how were you able to pass the interview without freezing up? Cause for me, I'm getting interviews for BA roles.
