Thank god for nikkaz that left us strong catalogues of timeless music to revisit. I'm not worried. That's the mark of real legends.

The rest will be washed by time into obscurity as they should.

Seeing Nas do Illmatic with an Ochestra for example was a great way to revisit old music and keep it fresh. We good.

Not really... (And it's not a hip hop thing)...At a certain point most people just kinda lock in to favorites from their era, that's just a part of growing up... Look at your parents... It makes sense that there's not a bunch of 40plus year olds art a XXXtencion concert...
I love oldies too.. trust me my collection is deep but just cuz I’m getting older doesn’t mean I should just give up on seeking quality NEW music ... I’m only 30

Yessir I’m so happy I was able to experience 90’s and early 2000’s hip hop... these lil teenagers out here now don’t know how lame they really have it music and tv wise :francis:

Mutant Academy is a dope collective of rappers and producers
Al Divino is also a dope rapper/producer
Tha God Fahim he’s dope also
There’s others but these are just a few who I believe will have notable careers

All my favorite rappers got enough old music for me to live on and I don't care about who retires from doing live shows. i seen the greats live in concert back when they was in their prime. I don't wanna see Big Daddy Kane singing Ain't no half stepping in a wheelchair

Not saying you have to give up...I mean just logically think about it, at some point you had to know there'd be a disconnect between you and the hot new 18 year old rapper breaking on the scene... Music is very much like fashion, our personal preferences and aesthetics are very much informed by very specific points in time and experiences... To expect your particular sweet spot to remain in vogue in perpetuity is unrealistic...Not to say there won't be new acts that you'll feel, but it's a reason why parents and their children usually listen to different music

So what else are u playing these days then? Y’all to me fam :feedme:

These days I usually have the slow grooves on, mostly rock the Isleys or some Joe Tex as well as EW&F. 70s upto 80s r&b is holding me down fam as it sounds so pure and soulful.

  • Joey Badass
  • Mick Jenkins
  • Chance the Rapper
  • Earl Sweatshirt
  • Domo Genesis
  • Trippie Redd
  • Vic Mensa
  • Vince staples
  • Wiki

90% of what I listen to is what I grew up on and old-school stuff I discovered later in life.

I'm pretty much done with rap as far as new artists. I really don't care about discovering new artists. Every now and then a new cat will get my attention tho, for example:

I've gotten really into jazz also the past few years.

Like others have said, if you have a wide array of interests as far as music other than rap, you won't be sad about gravitating away from it as you get older.
