has scorsese ever surpassed the godfather, the godfather part 2 and apocalypse now?

his run is longer then coppola's and he's got more great films then coppolla but did he ever reach the levels coppola did with the godfather, the godfather part 2 and apocalypse now though?

This might not be the popular opinion but I feel Goodfellas and Casino have more replay value than the godfathers. Also, to me Goodfellas is up near the apex of filmmaking. Some of the tracking scenes and Steadicam shyt going on there is just on another planet. Scorsese is a genius

don't get me wrong, scorsese is indeed a brilliant director. i'm a huge fan of his and he's 1 of my favorite directors but i don't think he ever made movies that were ever on the same level as the 1st 2 godfathers and apocalypse now though

They're more entertaining than the aviator which I think is overrated.

Goodfellas is a timeless classic just like the GOD'S. Apocalypse Now isn't as good of a movie as Good fellas imo. Taxi Driver is also a masterpiece.

The bold I gotta disagree with. The Redux version >> the regular version....Now if I had to call one of Marty's films overrated, I'd have to go with "Raging Bull" which I find dull. Has anyone viewed "Godfather 1&2" box set with Coppola narrating and guiding you threw the movie?? shyt is amazing. I use to take a lazy Sunday just to view & listen

Nothing can top Brando and De Niro's performances in the first two Godfather movies. I honestly forgot they were acting.

I have the box set, yes it's really good. So much insight.

And I agree with Raging Bull being overrated. It's seen as maybe his best movie but I have several others ranked higher including Casino, Taxi Driver, and even Mean Streets which is a personal favorite. Goodfellas I do believe is his crowning achievement. Almost every single scene is classic and no movie has really been able to match it.

Brando in Apocalypse Now ain't no joke either tho...and he only had about 20-25 minutes of actual screen time.

He was great, but let's not act like he was on the level of those two.
