Goodfellas is an all time great flick no questions asked but in the grand scheme of things what do you really take away from it? Like ultimately what is the movie trying to say? Don't be a gangster???

Godfather is deeper on so many levels.

Coppola definitely over Scorsese, remember Coppola was also a screenwriter as well. With that said, Scorsese has the heavyhitters in his catalog to compete which is why he's GOAT STATUS as well. "The Godfather Trilogy" is untouchable. With that said, "Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Ranging Bull, Casnio etc" is nothing to downplay.

No I can't give you this fam. They did Al dirty and he should of won an Oscar with Brando and Deniro for his performance as Michael. I understand him not winning for Part 1 but he should of won with Deniro for Part II. They would do Al so dirty and he had 8 nominations before winning for "Scent of a Woman" which inturn cause Denzel to get done dirty for "Malcolm X".

Nothing can top Brando and De Niro's performances in the first two Godfather movies. I honestly forgot they were acting.

i honestly think pacino did a better job than both of them.
His character had more "growth" to it.... if that makes any sense. From the nice guy to the cold blooded calculated crime boss.
How didnt pacino win an oscar for this role is beyond me
Anyway... as much as i love scorsese, nothing can touch the first two godfather films.

I got Coppola over Scorsese. scorsese's shyt is nice but sometimes it seems he is so fixated on a particular time that his stories suffer at getting universal meanings like Francis did with G1&2 and Apoc Now.

To be honest I'm not a huge Scorsese fan and I find him at his best on the same level as DePalma, although dePalma has some of the worst lows for any director that has the highs that he has.

Goodfellas and The Departed are amazing, but the answer is no. Scorsese has never directed anything as great as The Godfather Part I or II.

This might not be the popular opinion but I feel Goodfellas and Casino have more replay value than the godfathers. Also, to me Goodfellas is up near the apex of filmmaking. Some of the tracking scenes and Steadicam shyt going on there is just on another planet. Scorsese is a genius

Casino is never brought up with the great mob movies and to me it's up there with any of them. I'd still put goodfellas and godly father over it but that's not a knock

The bold I gotta disagree with. The Redux version >> the regular version....Now if I had to call one of Marty's films overrated, I'd have to go with "Raging Bull" which I find dull. Has anyone viewed "Godfather 1&2" box set with Coppola narrating and guiding you threw the movie?? shyt is amazing. I use to take a lazy Sunday just to view & listen

I gotta vehemently disagree with this. The scene where they link up with that family of French Colonialists pretty much ruins the flow of the entire movie. Completely unnecessary.
