Has there ever been a hip hop superstar with less personality or charisma than Travis Scott?

If all it took was the machine why would anyone ever flop and why aren’t there other artist as big as Travis

It's funny when people act like the job of a record label isn't to push their artist as hard as possible. Every artist signed to a major label has "the machine" behind them, that's the sole point of signing to a major. But that doesn't guarantee success, there are artists that have had labels put millions behind them and they have absolutely nothing to show for it.

So you want politicians to be entertainers?

That type of thinking is why Trump is in office in the first place :snoop:

We were talking about this in the McDonald's thread. Travis is a blank slate personality wise. He's connected to the Kardashians so that's an immediate question mark. It's weird, bro. He got the machine behind him and he's not fumbling musically like Chance did, so he's blowing up. His fan base is ravenous and extremely loyal and he's been building it for about 6 years now. I just remember all the hype around Rodeo and being utterly confused because of how trash his shyt is. He's good for a couple of singles or bangers here and there but he's just not the artist people want to portray him as. He got a Super Bowls spot which is the most unprecedented thing I think I've ever seen in hip hop. That's like Snoop getting a half time spot years after Doggystyle, but making even less logical sense. Travis is probably the first really explicit artist beyond diddy and nelly (two artists who were bigger than him in their prime, moreso Nelly) and Kid Rock to have a spot like he did. His persona and aesthetic is very dark and not "family friendly", even beyond the explicit lyrics is his whole "creepy" Halloween-esque, dare I say devilish vibe that again has not been seen in any artist on the super bowl stage. The whole thing is sketchy. He's a plant for sure. I remember everyone talking up his production but you'd be hard pressed to find one song by him he produced himself for the past 6 years or so.

Can't compare 93 to 2020, Beyonce doing black panther homage shows, NFL investing 100 million in social justice, reggaeton at the super bowl, Nicki Minaj twerking and on. Also don't forget that he was a feature along with Big Boi to Maroon 5.
