No it’s just these undereducated idiots who post on the Coli that doesn’t understand what constitutes race and what it means to be biracial.

:gucci:

Why are people so hyper sensitive about image and identity?

fukk, cosplay as Cyclops, who the fukk cares?
It ain't the end of the world

I'm just saying it wouldn't hurt to have some representation :yeshrug:

I always identified with characters like static or cyborg out of being black but there just isn't as much representation for light skinned black people

Like why we can't have a lightskinned person play a shaft or @Luke Cage type character?

We got the music game on lock, we just need some positive rep in other things :francis:

race is social man, different areas of the world have their take on race(black, white, etc) than here in america.

sorry but thats reality.
Ok but most of us live in the US and we’re talking about American comic book characters. We have to play by those rules everyday so it’s irrelevant whether or not race is a social construct or not. I agree with u btw.

You still harping on Puerto Rican not being a race:russ:

Which I never claimed that it was

But breh, that aside, she still isn't a black woman

I haven't seen anything in the comics saying she's afro latina

There are black Puerto Ricans but she doesn't look like one of em

Multiple people are quoting me I’m not harping on anything. I’m just saying Miles would count because he’s not biracial UNLESS his momma is checking off white in the MCU census :mjpls:

In comics this is done so there's no ambiguity about what the character is.
If you think Will Smith is light-skinned; Hancock?

I was listening to a good YouTube video on a similar topic. There's no lightskin A-list movie stars. Terrance Howard, Michael Ealy, Jeffrey Wright and Shamar Moore might be the only ones. Breh from Bridgeton needs a longer resume. Terrence is the only one who's "arguably" A-list.

Hollywood seemingly doesn't cast lightskin brehs nearly as much as brownskin/dark-skinned actors. For actresses it was the opposite until the last 10 years or so.

And of course this is rooted in racial stereotypes. So I imagine comicbooks have a similar reason why.

For some reason I was thinking about exactly this topic earlier today :ohhh::dwillhuh:.

Most comic artists/character designers are white, and they think all black people look the same:manny:. That’s personally why I think that’s why there aren’t any lightskinned heroes.

Yeah, I forgot about that

Reminds me of how cacs think dudley from sf iii and usopp from one piece aren't black because they don't look like racial stereotypes

Come to think of it now, usopp is a light skinned comic book character :ohhh:

We got one :wow:
