Just looked it up.The Sonics won 2 games in a row when they put Payton on Jordan
Till this day I am not sure why George Karl waited until game 4 to do that more often.
Jordan shot 36% or so those last 3 games
1st three games of the finals the Bulls scored 107, 92 and 108 points.
In the next three games of the finals the Bulls scored 86, 78 and 87 points.
Game 4: Jordan had 23 pts on 6 of 19 shooting
Game 5: Jordan had 26 pts on 11 of 22 shooting
Game 6: Jordan had 22 pts on 5 of 19 shooting

Payton was outplayed by Nick Van Exel the year before and lost to an 8th seed before that.
What does that have to do with it. I am just pointing out how good Payton was defensively

Westbrook offense is great but it doesn't make me wanna pick him over Payton since players today have success against it.

Westbrook is head and shoulders better than Peyton.Yall bring up GP's defense, but I've heard several accounts where former players have said that Peyton's defense was overrated and that he was allowed to get away with a lot because of reputation.

Westbrook has no identifiable basketball skill that's better than payton's. Russy is a better athlete.
He makes a lot less mistakes and his decision making wasn't a complete liability in big moments because of it. Russ can't really be trusted even though he is an incredible talent.
