Man, I am not against people making money. I'm a capitalist myself. I'm talking about something beyond that.

But yeah, now that you mention Bob Marley, wouldn't it be awesome if Bob Marley were a symbol for solidarity and the struggle for freedom instead of the butt of pot smoking jokes.

How many times have you heard some lame say some variation of: "This car smells like Bob Marley's a$$hole!"

I mean, when I think of Bob Marley I think of "Redemption Song" but I know when people think of him in general all they think about is goofy pot smoking jokes. It's disheartening.

Well, maybe it would get more props if WuTang's sh!t hadn't been proliferated amongst the gentrification set. Maybe if they didn't make WuWear the butt of jokes in numerous skits and interludes it would command a bit more respect.

Nobody is dissing the Wu, boo-boo. They're legends. Nobody is denying that.

I'm just making the observation that they really made their gear only cool to people that don't actually fvck with rap and hip hop culture. Which is fine, especially for their pocketbooks, but it no doubt has had some effect on their legacy.

If I see someone wearing a Dipset shirt I know I can talk to them and share some good memories of an era in rap that's close to my heart. Can't say the same for someone wearing some Wu brand bullsh!t. Sorry.

They've been doing it for years. Now, you can be a conspiracy theorist and say "well, they've been paying them to model it for years" but we both know that's bullshyt, because nobody in their right mind would pay random people to model a niche brand like Wu-Wear, literally for years.

Now, I know there's a whole bunch of photos of hot chicks wearing WuWear on the internet. Hell, start a brand and announce it on Instagram and there are literally scores of women that will hit you up asking for free gear to wear/rep on their pages. This thread isn't about that.

I'm just talking about my experience with seeing the proliferation of their brand in real life and if anyone else has come to the same conclusions that I have. I know this discussion is pretty nuanced but please try to follow along and not be so... reactionary.
