Thought this was a hate thread, but when I think about it. And Face is in my top 15 probably, he isn't the type of artists that is played at clubs or parties and shyt. Other than Guess who's back and Smile someone might've thrown on some face at chill after- or pre parties or chiefing nights in college. He's got a lot of tracks for that

Is this one of those "my friends don't listen to this artist, so must be the whole not listening to him neither" type of threads?

no

it’s one of those “you My Beginning Rap book nikkas who act like rap elitist don’t speak for every rap fan” threads

Let me settle this thread. There is a big difference between having club music or music to bump in your car and music that you play in the headphones or in a chill setting. Dem Franchise Boyz and Lil Jon get more play at clubs than Scarface and Common. Does that mean they are better or more popular? No.

Face makes music for the solo chilling or for your play only. Face is my favorite artist, but I pretty much only listen to him on the solo. When I have people over or am playing music at a party, I almost never play his music. He just doesn’t make music for groups of people unless you trying to chill.

Uncles n daddies who grew up on RAP A LOT before No Limit, Slipn Slide, So So Def, Cash Money, Dungeon, Suave House, etc....

Oh, forgot...you muthafukkaz didn't start listening to rap until Wayne was grown.

bruh tbh I’ve heard more Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Lil Flip, Fat Pat, Slim Thug and Chamillionaire here than Scarface

You keep listing names of people from both ATL and HTX that for the most part Scarface proceeded. So maybe you just didn't start listening to hip hop until you were like 20 years old. But you have also posted a bunch of exceptions and most of the people agreeing with you are deep in the red which means they generally have bad takes such as this thread. Just except you are wrong breh and go bump some Face and educate yourself.

im 32. I said in the other thread besides his Geto Boys shyt and Smile, ive never heard anyone play a Scarface song.

In Atlanta I mostly heard TI, Pastor Troy, Gucci, Jeezy, Dro, OJ, Bone Thugs, 3-6, Project Pat,Kilo Ali, Raheem the Dream, Lil Jon, Luda, Trick Daddy, and other local Atlanta music..Atlanta radio stations back then played mostly local Atlanta shyt cause we had a lot of talent down here

Being 32, whether or not you heard Scarface is completely irrelevant. No offense.

"Mr. Scarface Is Back" came out when you were 3.
"The Diary" came out when you were 6.
"The Untouchable came out when you were 9.

etc etc etc.

So you were either a child or a tween for pretty much the entirety of his prime. Meaning, whether or not you heard it doesn't mean anything.

I guess you could say "well, nobody around me was playing it either"....meaning, older people. But a child wouldn't be around older people 24/7, to know what was going on.

Fred.

Man, woman, and child
I'm from the Maryland DC area and if you from here you know Scarface got big play out here
I was gonna say this. I’m from Baltimore where we used to bump Face especially when the Fix dropped. But I know y’all DC area cats played him heavy. It seems like everybody I knew from the DC area loved Redman and Scarface

But I’m surprised reading they weren’t playing him down in Atlanta though.

They did. I don't know what OP's experience has been, but I've heard Face get airplay from Frank Ski, Greg Street, Chris Luva Luva & Poon Daddy, and that's mainstream radio. The college stations played artists from all over, too. There were Houston folks who showed up for Freaknik playing their hometown stuff, and Texas students throughout the AUC that I personally knew.

I'm not even from here. :manny:

and what songs were they playing besides the ones I listed?

You can’t tell me DJs in Atlanta played him more than local acts. Atlanta radio is and was very heavy on the local dudes

I’ve been listening to rap since I was a toddler. I had Doug E Fresh and the Fat Boys on vinyl

What kinda alternate Universe are yawl living in where nobody played Scarface?? At the very least you shoulda heard cuts off The Fix if nothing else.

during that time we were playing Crime Mob, Trap Squad, Lil Jon, Luda, Jeezy, TI, Gucci, Dipset, Wayne and Jay Z. :unimpressed:

Y’all talking like I said I’ve never listened to Scarface in my life.

The point of this thread was saying he didn’t get played that much to where folks wanna act like you aren’t a rap fan if you aren’t a Scarface fan.
