my dad and his fam (the poltiical one in my family) was a borderline Republican until George HW Bush.

i was born after that. i'm see myself Christian socialist.... honestly dont know why there aren't more of us on the left.... this generation has had a huge decline in church attendance, i know alot of the far left are LGBT and unforunately, have had a very negative experience with the Church and their parents..

but pro life. it used to not be a big deal to me, but now abortion bothers me brehs, alot. the statistics are disturbing. you wont see me out there protesting. women can and should be be able to do whatever they want with their babies. if i was president, i would fight for more access to abortion, actually. just idk....

Yes. Required me to educate myself a bit more than I was maybe 4 or 5 years ago. It made me more progressive fiscally.

I blame reading a bunch of Chomsky.

I dont know, Ive seen my relatives and even quite a lot of my friends become more conservative. Especially those who settled down.
Have they changed their views? Fiscally or socially?

You sure? Nobody on the left rocks New Balances :scusthov:

I was heavy establishment Dem. I'm more independent jumping from left (social democracy) to center (stop taxing me damnit).

Your post made me think....

Imagine the quality of youth who are coming of age 2010-2020 and would be inspired to become Republicans in that atmosphere. :picard:

Anyone who doesn't think that Trump is really fukking over his party something serious is deluded as hell. :mjlol:

Nah I disagree, kids have impressionable minds. Their political views and ideology is often guided by the type of household they grew up in. Most conservatives adults today grew up in a conservative household as a kid.

The betrayal and ideological evolution stories are the exception. Most cac kids today will be exposed to nothing but propaganda from fox news, oann, breitbart etc and will grow up to revere trump as the hero "who got treated badly by the left wing socialist media and politicians"

as a kid when I knew little about the complexities of politics remember thinking the Republicans were the good ones, as I approached my teens I became more liberal due to the influence of my mother and seeing the disaster of Iraq and Katrina and as I have gotten older I would say my politics have turned more Social Democratic if anything.
