I am not bothered by that and I don't understand why I should be.

Yes I know about the history, most people don't go there for the history though, they go there to party, "because it's lit", . That's probably one of the main reasons why they are "on their way out".

Yes people go to college to party. But dont let that one or 2 bad apples fool you. Majority do take education seriously at hbcu's. Like they dont party at white schools. Hell they party harder.

Yeah it was straight. 12 was hating, but we still put on.

shyt we on a 2gm losing streak.....Blessed Trinity damn near killed us lol. Gon be ready to play Washington on 10/9 I believe. I went thru beginning of the school year, I'm more than likely will hit up homecoming. Saw dat boy Batman the other day. Lol. Breh cool as hell

Blessed Trinity a beast tho. They'll probably crush us and Therell too. They must have been in a different class when I was school cuz had never heard of them until a few years ago.

And yeah Batman cool people. I haven't seen breh in years but we got some mutual friends and I hear he's doing real good. He flipped that NFL money and he got a couple businesses. I remember when summer school was at Doug Batman used to always finesse the answer key. No clue how he did it. Teachers probably gave it to him. But I peeped game early and made sure I sat by that nikka in class.

You guys can't seriously expect most black people who grew up in an integrated society to "self segregate" themselves just because you put such a high importance on blackness and don't like being around white people (cacs, the mature way to say it).
It's useless to complain about the inevitable/try to stall it.
(I never had any interest in going to one nor did any black person I know)
If it's your thing cool, but stop whining about the glory days of segregation (which only some of you do) or try to shame people over it.

Post like these, show that you're a token. Most black people don't grow up in integrated societies(there is a reason why black on black crime is a thing) and "self segregation" happens regularly at many PWIs. There are many reasons people don't go to HBCUs but too many black people is rarely one of them.

HBCU's were used out of necessity and without the force of segregation pushing people together they won't be as possible nor will that level of connection from black people towards other black people be the same.
It doesn't matter if they've actually experienced legitimate integration because of red lining and white flight and economic barriers if the illusion or idea of it is there.

As a FAMU alumni making 6 figues yeah the financial aid department can be annoying like getting net checks late. But HBCUS admit and give a lot a people a chance at college that honestly don't have the discipline and responsibly for school so when they fukk up they want to soley blame the school when they're were just as if not more trifling concerning their finances and grades.

As for FAMU our enrollment this year is around 11,000, were building new dorms and renovating old dorms and just finished our part 2 gym facility.
This is part 1

I've personally worked out many of times in the above gym

This is the new gymnasium/basketball arena

We used to have our graduation at the convention center like FSU but now hosts graduation in this gymnasium. I graduated in this gym.

New FAMU Village student housing (I graduated in 2012 and these weren't built then)

And last but not least going to pool parties with no cacs

:blessed:

So yeah we're not FSU you guys have more money/students/alumni but we're not some raggedy school like the Tallahassee media and other like to pretend. Yeah we got problems but let me tell you step foot on FAMU campus and lack of "spirit" or school "pride" from the student body isn't one of them. HBCUS aren't for everyone but they still have a place. I went to majority White schools my entire life until college and going to an HBCU was like a breath of fresh air for me personally :yeshrug:. Also for an HBCU our alumni associations are pretty good.
Thank you for these pictures, my brother!

I graduated from FAMU many years ago, I admit I have not kept up with things there. I was one of the privileged to attend SBI when Sybil Mobley (RIP) was the dean. I, like you, was a product of majority white schools and suburban living. Going to an HBCU was an experience I will never forget and always treasure. I hope to get back one of these years for homecoming.

I did not say they don't take their education seriously, I said they picked that school because they like to party. Majority of the students who go to one went there because they thought it would be fun mostly because of the partying.

They do party at white schools or pwi's, but those pwi's are not "on their way out". The hbcu's are. Partying at pwi's has nothing to do with this conversation. But since you mentioned white schools...

Hbcu's degrees aren't any better and their schools are usually more expensive than many pwi's. A lot of the dorms and classrooms are low quality, I've heard. The only pro of going there that people mention is the fun and parties.

Tell them to drop tuition rates. What i look like spending 20k plus a yr on anything?
That's ridiculous. If it's not Harvard, Northwestern, University of Chicago or any other uni at the top of the list with a name, then I wouldn't spend that much money on a degree from their school.

Irony, I just met the guy appointed by the President to head his HBCU initiative.

Cool guy. .. if you had one thing you'd want him to do to really support HBCUs what would it be?

Most people don't go to PWIs because of their thoughts about integration. Self segregation is common at many PWIs. Most don't go because they don't value blackness; they go because they value other things more.
