Me and my boy were talking about Daks brother who I think jumped in front of train tracks and asked why’d anyone would go out that way...

I was like shyt.. at least you know it won’t be a failed attempt

I suffer/ed from a chronic depression and I come from an old school traditional black family so they wasn't trying to hear that.

The first step in my recovery was to acknowledge it and that I had to proactively TRY to fix it. Just like an addiction problem. And it actually helped a lot. :ehh: I still gave those moments/days but it's more a deep emotion that will eventually leave than an all encompassing lifestyle like it was before.

Yo this is why I just want to say that we as black men we need to be more accepting and more understanding of each other's problems because depression hits us hard.

I'm not too proud to say that I've struggled with depression on and off for years and it's a battle that never ends but it can be done.
because any form of pain or emotion is seen as weakness
how many black men been told to get over it when they say they are depressed?
deep down most people don't care for other people's problems other than their own
they just nod their head to show support but eventually see you as a negative force

As someone who’s been a downbeat person since I was a teen, it’s important to listen to people’s cries for help and take them seriously (some people don’t actually want help but that’s another story). There’ll be a time where you’re on the ledge and the difference between stepping back and jumping is the people around you.

Ive been depressed since elementary school. It is what it is:yeshrug:.
Depression hit me like a motherfuker in college.

2007 was the year it started.

What really did it for I was seeing all my friends graduate and move away it was a life change that I hadn't experienced before.

I guess it was just a realization for me to do the same thing.

Roof

I mean can you really be depressed
Im sure u can bounce back
This is incredibly short-sighted thinking I mean there are millionaires that have killed themselves for crying out loud.

Depression can be described as cancer of the brain cancer of the emotions. Negative emotions just consume it and make the brain kill itself and you don't even want to feel that way but sometimes it's just Unstoppable the depression just penetrates.

And when you have something that physical like that money can't do much except curb the damage it causes.

depression is one of those things other people don't understand until they experience it themselves
some people are depressed and are in denial or don't even know it
