:picard: Prayers to all you brehs in this thread talking about your own depression, didn't know it was that wide spread on here.

Hope yall all good and keep your head up.
Shiiiiid if I didn't feel a sense of obligation to family I would been blown my brains out, shyt's real mayne. I make sleep my finish line for the rougher days, and more oft than not it's the best part of any given 24 hour cycle
:yeshrug:
To everyone citing religion working, yeah by design religion's answer to any given L is it was supposed to happen/part of god's plan/there's something better coming. It's a double edged sword it can allow people to not seek what they deserve in this life due to the belief of the next, but it can also give people strength in times they don't have it themselves. While I'm essentially atheist, as long as you're not hurting anyone whatever works for people in terms of allowing them to get by, and be decent people is cool with me

if ya social circle is solid you have some hope, i remember growing up my circle were pretty solid in terms of discussing the fukked up shyt we were living through. we mostly joked about it to the point of tears and ate chinese food after with some weed and liquor. good times breaking bread with the neighborhood. but yeah it woulda been impossible to beat our depressed states without the camaraderie.
That's important. Forreal I had friends like that too for my lowest moments. Camaraderie and responsibility have kept a lot of people hanging on when they have otherwise dropped.

Im a big believer in the human element and I think most of mental health issues people feel afflicted by is correlated with the relative social isolation more and more people live in with our individualistic American culture.

So you admit it, respect.

The options are dealing with it or dealing with it with paid help. But at the end of the day those people told you the truth: deal with it.

Outside of the folks with hormonal imbalances this shyt is only as powerful as you make it. Yall wanna dress depression and suffering up into some boogeyman. Life is hard enough to be crippling your potential over some shyt in your head.

All psychiatrists can do is give you a space to vent, its still up to you to pick up the pieces. Ask yourself why poorer countries score higher on mental health in spite of America having more access to psychiatrists.

Besides you act like all this shyt aint by design. Some people aren't letting this system turn them hopeless and weak. And the ones who don't without empathy will see you as food.

The system is arguably designed to reduce you to that state and feed upon you. Racist cacs love the idea of a black man too mentally broken to function as an adult. Women won't find that a respectable quality (many are looking to be inspired themselves) to procreate with. Kids wont find that admirable as a man

You wanna help? Be proactive in pulling folks up, help dismantle systematic racism, and encourage black men to have the grit and resilience they need to handle the problems of life head on rather than whining about how you're not getting the maximum coddling that cacs get. Fyi that shyt is not working out for them either.

No homo but I legit love this advise.

Yo this is why I just want to say that we as black men we need to be more accepting and more understanding of each other's problems because depression hits us hard.

I'm not too proud to say that I've struggled with depression on and off for years and it's a battle that never ends but it can be done.
Damn homie you live in Denver :picard:. Isn't that where the KKK congregate :gucci:.

There are also lower suicide rates in less developed countries to but I think that's a conversation for another time.
As someone who has actually lived in a poorer country, the main reason why is because people in poor countries tend to interact more with each other. I remember growing up we always had someone at our house visiting my parents :yeshrug:. Life was also "slower" and stress due to work is kind of low. Poor countries also tend to have collectivist cultures so people rarely feel left out :yeshrug:.
