I believe childhood trauma is extremely overlooked as well. So many people are carrying around the baggage of how they were raised but don't know how to talk about it. I know for me, if I ever try to talk about anything that happened in my childhood, my mom practically mulls over it...and that shyt sucks, not gonna lie. R.I.P to breh, though. just goes to show you never know what someone is going through.
Trust me I know. Both my parents use to smoke crack. I’ve seen them high as a fukking kite. Imagine talking to your parents and there fukking eyes is wide and they doing some funny shyt with their mouth. My grandmothers saved my life. They raised me hard then their own kids and I’m thankful for it. But I’ll never get past the shyt I saw.

That's why its important to know your fav food, fav movie, fav video game, fav sports team etc

When you feel down, go & enjoy your fav things you like doing.

It does get better. My childhood was shyt & my early 20s were worse. Once I got my own apartment at 26, life has been blissful. I could live life with my own rules, I was fukking different females in my apartment every weekend, I was travelling across the world

I mean you got to just deal with it or seek some sort of professional help or medication but at the end of the day how many of us are even telling us to do that?
So you admit it, respect.

The options are dealing with it or dealing with it with paid help. But at the end of the day those people told you the truth: deal with it.

Outside of the folks with hormonal imbalances this shyt is only as powerful as you make it. Yall wanna dress depression and suffering up into some boogeyman. Life is hard enough to be crippling your potential over some shyt in your head.

Exactly.

Could have just said that but the fact you didn't proves my point.

A lot of us think going to therapy or taking medication for mental illness is a weakness. So it doesn't cross people's mind to see that as a viable solution.

We're not the ones first and foremost getting treatment for our mental illnesses an emotional illness is. Its not covered by insurance... there's a lack of black mental Healthcare professionals psychiatrist and psychologist and even in areas where there are black people aren't even seeking out their help.
All psychiatrists can do is give you a space to vent, its still up to you to pick up the pieces. Ask yourself why poorer countries score higher on mental health in spite of America having more access to psychiatrists.

Besides you act like all this shyt aint by design. Some people aren't letting this system turn them hopeless and weak. And the ones who don't without empathy will see you as food.

The system is arguably designed to reduce you to that state and feed upon you. Racist cacs love the idea of a black man too mentally broken to function as an adult. Women won't find that a respectable quality (many are looking to be inspired themselves) to procreate with. Kids wont find that admirable as a man

You wanna help? Be proactive in pulling folks up, help dismantle systematic racism, and encourage black men to have the grit and resilience they need to handle the problems of life head on rather than whining about how you're not getting the maximum coddling that cacs get. Fyi that shyt is not working out for them either.

This is incredibly short-sighted thinking I mean there are millionaires that have killed themselves for crying out loud.

Depression can be described as cancer of the brain cancer of the emotions. Negative emotions just consume it and make the brain kill itself and you don't even want to feel that way but sometimes it's just Unstoppable the depression just penetrates.

And when you have something that physical like that money can't do much except curb the damage it causes.

:snoop:
Na, money makes you pay for addictions when you have depression whether it be sex, drugs or alcohol. That's why a lot of people have depression and don't know it until they die of alcohol addiction, drug overdose or put themselves in danger with promiscuous partners.

Nah that's actually being avoidant of reality and dismissive.

Be honest black men go through so much and been told to men up isn't enough.

We got dudes in our community that are legit suffering from PTSD from being in the roughest environments ever dealing with poverty doing with friends being lost to buy with dealing with jail dealing with prison, racism, all of that.

Suicide rates for black children in black teenagers has actually been sad we going up.

I think just telling young black men to just man up isn't sound device anymore unless it's accompanied by something else that's going to help the situation
don't forget the violence...

if ya social circle is solid you have some hope, i remember growing up my circle were pretty solid in terms of discussing the fukked up shyt we were living through. we mostly joked about it to the point of tears and ate chinese food after with some weed and liquor. good times breaking bread with the neighborhood. but yeah it woulda been impossible to beat our depressed states without the camaraderie.
