Did you end up getting accepted into D-School?

Took my DAT and gotta 17. I decided to take it again in the near future. Honestly a 17 is not bad but my grades are ok (3.2) and I want to develop the strongest application I can muster since I am coming out of pocket.

Thanks, I do well for myself. As it stands currently, I've moved on to being a controller in healthcare. I have the skill for it and most of the education. That said, I'm going back to school next year at the school that I teach part time at to finish up on my accounting classes so that I can get another BBA, this time in accounting so that I can get my CPA. Only two more stops for me on this ride, CFO then CEO. That is all that is above me now on a company position hierarchy chart.

I would advise everyone with a couple of things.

#1: Know Excel, like really know. Knowing pivots and VLookup alone isn't shyt.
#2: Work on being a better communicator. Your glass ceiling comes into view when you can't convey and break down thoughts as if you are talking to a 5th grader.
#3: Brush up on your financial acumen. If you can understand money, then you can understand the business. So understanding it and being able to explain it to others is a very potent package.
You got promoted to controller now?

Next year, when we add revenue cycle to my duties, I'm supposed to be able to drop the assistant part. I don't know why I'm an assistant controller anyways, I report to the cfo and everyone below reports to me. She's #1 and I'm #2 in finance there.

Starting school and majoring in Biology..eventual goal is Physician Assistant.
Why don't you do nursing?

I wish I had done nursing instead of Physical Therapy...

To anybody who hopes to be in the medical field,

Study nursing first, why? It is the logical thing to do because...
1) You get a degree that can actually pay you very well, if things go side ways....

2) You get the experience being around doctors, patients and their families (very important), hospital administration...You get to see how the healthcare system in your country works...

3) If your ultimate goal is to be a Physician Assistance or a Physician, don't waste your time doing Biology or a purely scientific degree...You are not going to get anything for it...

A nursing degree will give you more bang for your buck...And it will allow you to pay for your MD or PA if you are really good with money...

4) I wish somebody had told me this 10 years ago....

Yea that's not the only way either though. Most nurses go on to be Nurse practitioners or CRNAs. Its not common to transition from nursing to PA, although its possible. You're more likely to make more as a CRNA than a PA as well.

Stick to your Bio pre med degree. But instead of dikking around during spring or fall breaks and if you're not taking summer classes, you can take a CNA class and get certified in literally a couple of weeks and begin working towards direct patient care experience. You can find a PRN job relatively easy, or even a weekend gig. Also Phlebotomy helps. Although it varies from school to school. But your fastest, affordable, more accepted option is CNA while you finish up the degree. Get on it now and by the time you graduate you'll have all the paid contact hours you need and the professional letters fo recommendations.

But what if you don't wanna be a nurse. Then if you don't get accepted into PA school. you're kinda screwed right?

i cant do bio online though. I was thinking either health services management or nursing. as long as i take the prerequistes at a cc i should be ok. meaning the chemistry courses.
You cant do lab work online...... you need the practical aspect of it. Non-lab sciences, 99% of the time don't count or transfer. You cant do nursing entirely online either. If your plan is to get into PA school with an online degree, you're going to have a bad time.

So a close family friend of mine just finished community college with a associates of social science. Plan was to go into BSN program but she got put on the waiting list. She really don't feel like waiting. I've heard about other fields that pay well w/just an associates. I read about respiratory therapists and radiation therapists & medical sonographers. Any experience in here? what she need to do?
