whatever you get make sure it has a ssd drive. best way to add an hour to battery life and save yourself the hassle of overheating.
make sure it has at least 2 usb 3.0's
get an upgradeable latptop too. i got a 300 dollar lenovo with an i5 processor but my shyt runs for 2 days on one charge and is faster than all my friends laptops beacause of 100 bucks in upgrades.

Exactly what I m doing now
Actually, he should buy an upgradable laptop for like 600 and get a i5 and a SSD for the low.![]()

This debate has got me like
I still don't know what to do brehs. That Mac seems tempting, but only if I can get it at discount.
Thanks for the help everybody. Gonna head to Best Buy tomorrow to get some hands-on before I search for better deals online.![]()
and you really can do nothing but hand it down to a family member cause u wont get nothing more than a third of what u paid for itAll these windows laptops may match in build quality and sometimes even specs but something happens to them once they hit that 3 year mark where they start gettingand you really can do nothing but hand it down to a family member cause u wont get nothing more than a third of what u paid for it
This is exactly what happened to me. My shyt just started getting super slow. I did a factory reset and it was back to normal until all those Windows updates and service packs kicked in. I think that's what does it. The updates just get bigger and bigger over time and eventually the machine can't handle it.'This is exactly what happened to me. My shyt just started getting super slow. Money isn't an issue really. I can pay more for quality if it's gonna last a long time.
What Win Os was you running? If its Win Xp Its known to slow over time. Now Win 7 and Win 8.1 is not prone to slowing at least not in my experience (properly maintained). This is exactly what happened to me. My shyt just started getting super slow. Hmm I see, well I never had issue but again Im very careful on what I put on my systems. Plus Win 8.1 is more efficient than Win 7.It was Windows 7.![]()
Out of interest how much would a 13" MBP with Retina be with I5 8gb ram and a 256gb SSD?
The cheapest is $1499.99.
that's why I say he should grt the refurb aka Brand new
After my 2011 mac got stolen I purchased the 2013 256gb 8gb ram mac retina open box at bestbuy for $1074. The 4/5 hour Batt life wasn't cutting it so I sacfrificed the display and got the mid 2013 13 inch 256 gb 4gb ram open box for $1000. I need and like the convenience of a longer battery more than any performance I may lose in comparison to the retina.
I am not a brand whore, Im ok w windows, but Mac is too piffey.
