Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
This is true. But it shouldn't be that way. As it leads to false stories and duplication of the same weak ass background.

Ol "I was in the streets, gangbanging, selling dope. Had the Draco on me. So now I do drugs and music and fukk hoes " 90% of current rap

But it doesn't have to.

I mean, there will be duplication cause many people have similar backgrounds, but it's more about a willingness of the artist to really open up to their audience with their art.

Sometimes I think these guys are shy about giving away too much, not know that that's what's going to connect with the people

had to fix
Would make more sense 2 years ago. Nowadays the new class coming in is the opposite. That backpacker, good dude in a crazy world, sentiment is pretty much gone. Most of the new cats comin in are future/drake/thug hybrids who claim they used to trap.
fixed.

Thats more accurate about nowadays.
I agree, but it would also be better fitted a couple years ago. beyond chance, cole, sean, drake and kendrick. These "non-street" cats aren't relevant for more than their music, and are MIA most of the time and that's unfortunate. They may sell more due to a fanbase, but nikkas out here following future and young thugs every move. The wale's of this world are just out here drowning.

Yeah. But even in the hood, not everybody is dealing or banging. Not that it matters. I feel like they do open up tho. I just question if its really as they say.

Young Thug not winning with his street narrative tho. It was him crossing the lines of being gay that put him in position. It still took Lyor putting 5 albums together to get him a plaque.

Kendrick did that with 1 album.

Future, no matter how street he might have really been, that is not anything that is helping him right now or for the past couple of years. He primarily been talking about drug use.

The only case you can make is Kodak because he has yet to have a song past Skrt yet been very relevent same with XXXTENTACION because his whole jail stint is what really been keeping him alive.

Otherwise, the street dude is not really winning. 21 Savage is more a meme with a soundtrack than anything. No one is really following his footsteps.

Drake is still #1.
