He's not perfect, but where does Tariq Nasheed stand with you as a black voice in the media?

You didn't really think I was going to sit here and do your research for you?

I'm more knowledgeable than you so I'm ready to destroy your assertion "lie-filled movies" ....there are a few crack pot theories but they are never presented as truth.

Once again, do you contest Scandal, Real Housewives and L&HH...shows with 100000000x the audience of Tariq?

You're smarter than me but spent money on 3 movies filled with crack pot theories by your own admission, created by a man with no academic credentials, and neither funded nor backed by any reputable institution to educate you about your history? Oh ok.

I'm sure you're smart enough to see the logical fallacy in bringing up shows, one advertised as scripted so completely known as fantasy, and 2 others pretending to be reality but obviously fake and even then only done for entertainment, and comparing them to movies that are supposed to be educational and academic in nature. Surely your big brain can gather how stupid that would be.

Didn't buy shyt :childplease:

And Tariq has been very clear about his past and that he isn't an academic. I wouldn't say "filled" since the documentaries do have academics and scholars. Tariq's theory on White supremacy falls in line with any 20th century Black scholar or guys like Ta-Neishi Coates so it is "backed" in that sense.

And it being funded by a White institution defeats the purpose of group economics and railing against Cac supremacy, no?

Is it obviously fake? I can go to beyondblackandwhite.com or walk outside in Atlanta right now and see the effect and feedback loop these shows are having on BW.

black feminism, y'all

"Activism" that advocates oppressing/degrading Black women to get Black men closer to white men in terms of status, y'all.

@Poitier Well I'm happy to hear you didn't waste your money like that. My point still stands though. I don't think him having some valid points here and there on white supremacy adds any credence to him as a whole. Most of those valid points are very easily found public information anyway, so thats not ground breaking. I watched some of the first HC and I remember him seeming to purposefully sprinkle in a few facts with his theories in order to confuse the less sophisticated viewer (which is probably the majority). That's propaganda at its finest. And none of this is to even speak of his misogyny.

Imo, he found a niche of Black men who like to hear about how much potential they have (nothing wrong with that) and that historically they were great (the truth, and nothing wrong with that) but who also have frustrations with women and like receiving that positive message in a specific, misogynistic package. A package that either makes women the blame for their current problems, says women need to be subjugated to secondary status in order for them to solve their problems, or both.

.

no one advocates oppressing black women. i'd demand proof but you'd just tell me to google it myself. either way, what does that have to do with your blind claims about HC3? i assume you haven't seen it since you can't name anything false about it.

That was a summary of all of Tariq's "pro-Black activism"

Most of those valid points are very easily found public information anyway, so thats not ground breaking. And none of this is to even speak of his misogyny.

1. Format matters. The information is public but not in a format that is enticing to most Blacks. Is Neil DeGrasse Tyson's Cosmos worthless?

2. And can you show me the misogyny? I have yet to see Tariq generalize behavior towards Black women as a whole. The wenching stuff applies to a very specific kind of woman. He also calls out male c00ns.

Your issues lie with Black academics, miss. Tariq has come up with a blueprint, he just isn't the most qualified to make use of its full potential. Imagine if Cornel West, Henry Gates, Angela Davis,Melissa Harris-Perry, etc... took Tariq's approach instead of bowing to PBS, Discover and MSNBC?

no, that's YOUR summary of tariqs pro-black activism. which still has nothing to do with your claims about HC3. lets try to stick to that topic instead of jumping all over the place. have you seen HC3?
