The other problem is that we all know cena is the face of the company and he is only one who can make this work really . Well either cena or some new guy like Cody maybe del rio . The Ted Turner shot was cool (it got reaction from the crowd) using Jericho, RVD, and Edge was cool since they're all current babyfaces BUT WWE never tried to build the company around those three. Edge was a Smackdown Guy and RVD ruled ECW (both incarnations) but they were never molded to be the guy like Warrior, HBK, Lesnar and Batista were. If were going by WWE only then there's only five people who are undoubtedly the GUY during their eras:
Hogan
Bret (HBK, Diesel & Taker were close and some guys may well disagree but push comes to shove Bret was their guy see WM10, SS92, WM12, WM13 The Simpsons cameo and HBK even admitting he wanted Bret's respect and contract)
Austin/Rock (Austin 1st half Rock 2nd half of Attitude Era the only era were there were TWO once in a generation talents as the face)
When you think of Ruthless Aggression you don't think of HHH despite the fact he owned RAW, Lesnar was clearly being groomed as the guy w/ wins over Taker, Hogan, Rock, Austin (aborted), Angle, RVD, etc. KOTR and WWE Title within his first year. Watch the WM19 BTS Documentary and watch how various guys, especially Flair, talk about him. This is clearly Lesnar despite HHH having a chokehold on the World title. Also Smackdown Six. No Clear face during RA Era.
Cena (Batista, Hardy, Punk, and Bryan are the only ones who came close to Cena as faces therefore disqualifying Edge and Orton)
Triple H really went off the rails when he started mentioning how he only fights big stars and not little guys like Daniel. I will take back this criticism if HHH vs Bryan does happen (which after last night it HAS to).

EDIT: Kinda funny how heated HHH is about his legacy and the only era he could've been the "face" of was a transition period much like................Bret Hart.

Arguably, Randy Orton was hurt by this storyline the second he came out with the briefcase during SummerSlam. They made it clear that Orton wouldn't have cashed in if Triple H hadn't interfered, so he already looked like a bytch from day one.
Then, they didn't even let him any heat by having Bryan kick out and then Orton hit him the RKO, so all he had to do was come in and pin him.
I get that it was supposed to make him look like "Randy the opportunist," but it didn't properly establish him as "Randy the heel" because, honestly, face Orton would have done the same shyt.

Oh yeah..the big elephant in the room. They bring this discussion of looks and what a "face of the company is supposed to look like". Basically they're referring to someone who looks and sounds like John Cena or Randy Orton. Some considered handsome in the eyes of Stephanie McMahon with proper height and weight dimensions yet they are acting like Cena is above this situation and won't bring his name up with all the mud slinging used to attack Bryan. Slick shyt. Republican shyt. And of course no one is calling Cripple H out on being tier 2 to Rock and Steve Austin in the Attitude Era. He's not even above the Undertaker with fans either.

HHH had a run as a great heel in 2000 just like Jericho did in 2008 and Edge in 2006. They were all very good throughout their primes, but to view him as transcendent? Hell no.

Hunter and Mankind were NEVER on that level, no matter how much you want to argue otherwise. Austin sold more merchandise than ANYBODY, Rock had unparalleled crossover success.
Mankind wrote a couple childrens books and HHH got a bit part in a crappy movie.

No one has said that either. No one disputes the Rock and Austing were the two top guys. But this HHH was on a second tier nonsense is ridiculous. He was right there with HHH, Austin, Taker, and Foley as the 5 main guys who made the attitude era. Second tier is guys like Jericho, Angle, Beniot, etc

Nope, Austin and Rock were far and away in a league of their own. HHH, Taker, and Mankind were on a tier below them. Jericho, Angle, and Benoit were the third tier.
Nobody was on the level of Rock or Austin during the attitude era, so how the fukk can HHH or anybody else NOT be second tier in comparison to them. Just because you main event with someone a couple of times don't mean you're on their level.
