I'm eating really good right now off trade jobs. Companies fighting over me, I got 3 different shops I used to work at that want me to come back. Plus many more offers. 32$ a hour is where I'm at currently as a tig welder :ahh:

I started a new job about a month ago, I turned down a decent offer at another company to start working there. The next day they call me and offer me 5$ more a hour. shyt I quit and packed my stuff and left for my current job :mjlol:

The place I left was begging me to stay, and said I should come back if things don't work out. I didn't even give them proper notice. :eat:

Id rather take my chances at employment and wages than on a shakey ass degree that will start my adulthood in debt
People keep preaching STEM degrees on here. fukk that get a skill and you will always be able to bring in an income. I work at a trade school so I see the results. A lot of people look down on trades becuz we are wired to wanna make as much money with as little effort as possible. Some people work better with their hands and there's a lot of pride that comes with that. An 18 year old could start electrical training right now and be a master before they even hit 30

I think the issue is that these jobs can be replaced by AI.

Hell back in the late 19th century you could raise a family of four off being a street lamp lighter. Every night you take a ladder to each street post and light the candles on it.
A lot of people don't realize with trades that states are heavily involved. Its gonna be a long time before states approve something that will decrease tax revenue. Plus on top of that robots cant move the way humans do to be able to get into crawl spaces and shyt. This is why I been saying it'll be A LONG time before we see self driving Class A vehicles. The states have to approve it no matter what the companies want

Young black men need to take these trades over by storm.

Especially

Welding
Electricians
linemen
Plumbers
Operating engineers

In major cities these are all 6 figure jobs. Oh an you can start all of these with no college debt.

I wish I had known about union trades when I graduated high school I’d be a retired multimillionaire right now. You are learning skills you can side hustle with also.

Trades don’t pay quite as well in the UK as they do in America from what I’ve seen but I strongly support them.

All the men in my family are tradesmen. Brother has recently left the streets to become a bricklayer, my cousin is a site manager/carpenter and my dad is a retired surveyor

I just need to prove people wrong and try and excel at my chosen trade once I leave school :yeshrug:

It's not that simple. There's more grads than there is jobs. Every school has a bunch of people graduating with good degrees they can use with high GPAs.
Pretty much. Too much competition if everyone is doing the same thing. Plus most people don’t have any actual work experience or skills with regards to their degrees.

My man works in construction. He’s a cement finisher and a carpenter. Definitely makes good money. Would love to see more black men in trades.

May blessings be onto that man in his career:salute:

Shoutout to you too for not being a status obsessed bird and supporting him:wow:
