I honestly wish I never went to college and picked a trade (like electrician)

But I had zero guidence back in the day and was only pushed to college because thats all my people knew what to say.
The sad part is my pops has a trade and pushed me to go to college becuz he didn't want me to do physical labor like him:snoop:

Go to college and actually take that shyt seriously. Don't waist the opportunity. Get a good degree you can use, keep a high GPA, and something productive.
AMEN!

Too many mofos think college is a place to party and find a bullshyt major to pursue as a side gig. One of the problem is because it's not their money or they dont have to pay for it up front. In smaller countries your parents have to come up with the money up front so you bet ya ass they aint gonna let you fukk up. I've seen grown ass 22 years olds get beat the fukk down on a campus for fukking around in schools after their parents sold inherited land to put them in college. My cousin being one o them.

Too many clown out here afraid of doing some Math. Afraid of STEM programs. All of them majoring in "business administration" and "psychology" or related bullshyt. It's sad because a lot of them actually do pur their heart and souls into these majors and never see the fruits of their labor. Others just take them because they are easy majors and get mad when they cant find decent jobs in their major's field

If your not going to study Medical Sciences, Engineering , or something technology related I would advocate for trades over college . Also people need to be more fiscally responsible with their education if they do choose to go to college. If you don’t have a full ride do your first 2 years at a Community College working part time and then Live at home and commute to a local university your last years

I think the issue is that these jobs can be replaced by AI.

Hell back in the late 19th century you could raise a family of four off being a street lamp lighter. Every night you take a ladder to each street post and light the candles on it.

Yeah the same way technology is taking over non-labor related jobs, it's happening in trade jobs.

Where do people think the technology used in these trade jobs comes from, the sky.

there's engineering software, project management software, construction software, supply management software.

much less to talk of the software that's used for measuring mixing and the chemicals needed for steal, bitumen, concrete, etc.

Stanley black and Decker creates tools for labor jobs correct? Stanley black and decker also hires and pays the most to their finance, engineering and IT teams.

Why would anyone expect kids who:

Grew up playing video games
have cell phones
have the internet (and therefore access millions times more data than any generation before them)
have far more access to post high school education (Community colleges, universities, online universities)
are the most sheltered (physically, mentally, and emotionally) generation of all time due to the comforts of modern medicine and technology

to WANT to get into a backbreaking construction job at 18? :dahell:
So "trade" strictly = "construction" to you?

So "trade" strictly = "construction" to you?

If that's all you took from my post then :manny:

I skimmed the article. I saw three pictures of "construction" based jobs. I know what trades are. You can switch "construction" with any of the following: Plumber, Electrician, Carpentry, etc. and still get the same point in my post. Most kids these days do not want to work "skilled labor" jobs because of all of the modern accoutrements of their day to day lives.

It's not that simple. There's more grads than there is jobs. Every school has a bunch of people graduating with good degrees they can use with high GPAs.
Oh no, there are other people out there with degrees :hhh: like that's supposed to deter you?

I didn't say it was simple. A lot of people go to college and fukk around for years and then start complaining about how shyt didn't pan out. Unless you're going to a top university, going to college doesn't mean shyt if you don't take advantage of the opportunities. If you do tho, you're better off than the cats without degrees

I think there is value in working a trade.... but here's the problem. Back in the day working a trade and getting beat the fukk up all day was fine when everyone died at like 62

Now you gotta carry all those aches and pains into your 80s-90s :whoa: If you go into a trade make sure it's not one that will destroy your body
