I been beating this drum for a minute. Trades are WIDE OPEN right now especially depending on your location. All the old heads are dying off or retiring and there was a whole generation of us pushed to go to college. There's huge demand in these fields and they cant be replaced by a robot

They can be replaced by robots, the robots just aren't there yet. Give it time.

My opinion on the topic is that blue collar work has been viewed as less than human and pushed as that for some time now. Everyone doesn't belong in college and those that don't should be looking to enter trades. However, funding for trades in high school doesn't exist anymore along with art and music. People are being pushed into colleges just to spend money they don't have and end up not doing anything with their degree after school.

Thing about them trade jobs is sometimes there is a gatekeeper, especially in the south. They locking nikkas out of construction and the union positions.

This as well. It is very difficult for Black people to get on in the trades. They're inherently tribal especially depending on the region. Out West in CA, Mexicans are undercutting Black opportunities.

That's all over the rates are getting cheaper. The dude got a $50,000 to be 100 ft above the ground.

When a Mexican could probably do it for 30,000-40,000. People in this thread acting like mexicans aren't gettin paid for cheap labor.

People do not want to work on their hands and knees. They don't want to come home with oil all over their hands. They don't want any physically strenuous work. People want to work in offices and the pampered life even though they may likely make less money. On top of that trades are not viewed at the same way an office job is. Tell a ho you're a plumber she look at you like you're a lame even though you could make double her salary.

:mjlol: So stem means sitting behind a desk to yall?
Nope

I was a STEM major (Electrical Engineering Technology) and half my time was spent in a lab. I eventually went in to a mostly desk job programming and configuring stuff but i know others who i went to school with who mostly work in labs

Most younger cats too soft and stupid ( can’t stop smokin ) to do the work :manny:

I tried puttin dudes on, my trade is about to be in a vacuum because all of these baby boomers less than 5 years from retirement. Apprentices make more than fukkin engineers in my field with pensions and 401ks paid for, cell phones, work trucks, gas cards etc...

But nikkas want to pay a college to learn and do bytch work while sittin behind a desk lookin a computer screen :mjlol:You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make em drink.

These Mexicans and white boys ain’t passin it up tho so next time Billy or Juan doin work for you and you get that bill charged at 135$ a work hour plus materials you know what it is already :manny:
What's your trade

I think there is value in working a trade.... but here's the problem. Back in the day working a trade and getting beat the fukk up all day was fine when everyone died at like 62

Now you gotta carry all those aches and pains into your 80s-90s :whoa: If you go into a trade make sure it's not one that will destroy your body

All they need to put brehs on game on how they've been gutting unions for decades now

and good luck working construction in a right to work state. especially if you black.

Why would anyone expect kids who:

Grew up playing video games
have cell phones
have the internet (and therefore access millions times more data than any generation before them)
have far more access to post high school education (Community colleges, universities, online universities)
are the most sheltered (physically, mentally, and emotionally) generation of all time due to the comforts of modern medicine and technology

to WANT to get into a backbreaking construction job at 18? :dahell:

I see your point, but all that comes crashing down when they have 6 figures of college debt and are working in a call center job making 32k a year cuz no one wants to hire a sociology major :francis:
