"I'm in fact a Black Jamaican" :mjlol:

Podcast is actually really funny. Also, just proposing but you guys may have some sort segment in the last 10 minutes or so about 2/3 threads that popped in HL in the past week. Could be some kind of round-table or something.

And yes @LeyeT, you're a dreamer :mjpls: :lolbron:

It's closer than you think. Imagine if all the protesters in Baltimore and/or NYC took a left to go occupy City Hall instead of a right to nowhere... it'd be a whole different ballgame.

The thing is riots always happen in the neighborhoods where the rioters live. Riots for a community is the equivalent of punching a wall in your house or throwing your phone while you're mad for example : it's spontaneously letting your anger or frustration out on the nearest possible place (which is often on something that belongs to you). Rioters won't go downtown to burn things down, because it would strip their anger of their spontaneity -and that would mean it is a rally or a mnifestation and not a riot) and realistically the police won't let that happen. When riots happened in France, it was the same. People were burning cars, schools or whatever in their own housing projects. It was dumb but that's the very essence of a riot IMO.
And yeah, media do skew the impression that riots happen all over some city while it's only on a few blocks but it's nothing exceptional and definitely an American thing.

And what did Occupy WS did ? What was the outcome other than making the "1%" known ?

I'd like to participate once on this podcast try to bring a European perspective on American matters but the show basically happens at 4am lol. It's interesting to listen to it when you guys frustration about your government, corruption is really a worldwide thing. There is no country where people aren't mad at their politicians for the reasons you guys stated.

And @DEAD7, I see you with your loaded questions :mjpls: "So why is this cheaper to make things in China ?" :mjpls:
And no, regulations aren't the only reasons that it's cheaper to make things in China : the relative cost of living, inflation and many other factors (including regulations) are responsible for that. Paying an American the same as a Chinese (even relatively speaking) would bring the lower class to an even lower status. Libertarianism is all good theoretically speaking but in practice, there is absolutely no way that the invisible hand will help classes but the upper one. A deregulated economic market would be the law of the jungle where only the strong (companies, investors) will survive and/or rule and that's why regulations are needed even if we could argue that they could be less restricting which is debatable.

Uppin all the shows for the people :banderas:
Could be better if you put a little description under the titles so people could know what was the podcast about, no ?

I'm not saying go downtown and burn things down. I don't think we should burn things down period. Yet.

I'm saying walk peacefully into city hall and surround city hall with 3-5000 people and state our demands.

Simple :lolbron:

And what did Occupy WS did ? What was the outcome other than making the "1%" known ?

At the minimum, Occupy raised consciousness around income inequality. But even Occupy wasn't as organized as it should have been.

My point is, if 20,000 people can meet up at a football stadium on Sundays to watch people play a game, 5,000 people should be able to meet up on Monday morning and go regulate on City Hall. If we can meet after work for drinks, we can meet after work for freedom and justice.

But we need to get our priorities straight.
