Y’all too old to be looking for heroes, like your reaction to this situation will change depending on what you’re favorite rapper says. Y’all no different than those stans who make artist devoted twitter pages who hang off every word that artist says. Now if anyone says something you won’t think it’s genuine.

This “You Know The fukkin Vibes” generation isn’t interested in these social causes unless it looks cool, and even then, don’t ask em to do anything significant like donate or march or vote. Only a hashtag shall suffice.

The young generation is getting it in right now and most of the young rappers have posted or spoken out

Quick question. Why do you value that? Most of it is an illusion of someone pretending to give a fukk, it’s not real. They’ll tweet then put their phones down and pick up blunt after and continue going on with their daily lives. Those who care and actually put the work in will never publicize it, it isn’t for you or the public to know. It’s for those affected.

wild confirmation bias going on in here

many rappers have spoken out but so what? How does that further any causes

and the streets still and will always dictate rap

I knew YOU would respond to this. That's not a diss either, just from you post I think you're a bit younger.

I don't care about rappers "speaking out" social media wise.

My point is that I don't think music today particularly reflects our struggles. It just doesn't.

Chuck did used to say Rap was the Ghetto's CNN. It's really not that anymore.

I don’t think you’re really listening

the message in rap has been the same as it always is.

it’s still the ghetto CNN. Just cause music about flexing and partying is what hit the charts doesn’t mean rappers are giving the other side

the “golden era” of rap was largely about rappers pretending to be Italian mobster and selling poison to the community

Eminem need a new social team BAD.

Tone deaf AF to use Floyd death to promo your song (even if he had good intentions and I know he does, it still comes off tone deaf AF). Link to the donation link to Floyd family, not your damn streaming sites from your "blacks deserve better" song :comeon:

I don't know why, but this is hilarious to me. :russ:

Even in 2020, during these awful times, Eminem is trying to get Revival over. :mjlol:

Depends what you refer to as the Golden era.

The era from 87-92 didn't contain any of the Italian Mobster shyt and drug dealer rap that was popular in the mid 90s. Rap evolved quickly back then. Also if the labels aren't pushing it, then it doesn't really matter. It takes so much to break a record these days. Music isn't blowing organically no matter how much we have to ability to push things via the net. Before labels knew what sold, all types of rappers were getting pushed and charting.

Public Enemy, Brand Nubian, X-Clan, early/pre death row 2pac, Poor Righteous Teachers all gave you that other side.

NWA, particularly their 2nd album kinda destroyed rap and turned it into a caricature of gangster rap and we've never really looked back since.

You even saw NWA and Dre throwing shots at positive black power rap

"I'm not with that black shyt so I'm not gonna yell that" (C)-MC Ren (Real nikkaz don't die)

Just another motherfukkin' day for Dre, so I'll begin like this
No medallions, dreadlocks or black fists
It's just that gangsta glare with gangsta raps
That gangsta shyt makes a gangs of snaps, uh (C)-Dr. Dre (Let Me Ride)
