I see both sides

I'm 32 and generally speaking I just don't listen to old rap anymore. A lot of it sounds flat and boring. I like rap that is more dynamic... better produced.... more musical.

Same time though a lot if not most of these new dudes are trash. Be it J Cole or some mush mouth monotone down south lead paint chip eater.... what's bad is bad. And a lot of the young nikkas are mad oldheads won't give that shyt a pass. I have no problem giving good shyt the props it deserves. This year 90% of the rap I have listened to is Migos and Young Thug :yeshrug: But dont try to shame nikkas into rocking with Lil Uzi Vert :dead:

I mean the emphasis in rap music is on lyrics right? nikkas don't play instruments. nikkas want to be singers but can't sing nowadays. I'm 35 so I know I'm washed by this boards standards but I got sense.

There has never been an emphasis on lyrics

good beats and melodies >>>>>>>>>> that other imaginary shyt.
so you have just killed your own point. good beats = the producer.. Good melodies= the producer.

so thanks for admitting the rappers are wack. /Thread

/Reopens Thread,

when i was a youngin, my older bro rocked with all of my favorite rappers. ALL OF THEM. because ALL OF THEM WERE DOPE.

My pops was rocking with the top 5 name brand mcees of my era. thats right. my old a... pops knew "ok, these rappers are pretty darn good."

Pops, "Hey son, that outkast group is pretty good."

Pops, "Ay son, how you say his name Snoo...Snooopy Dogg. He curses too much but he's really good."

Pops, "Dear mama............ay son you like that song?"

Me:" Thats 2 pac"

Pops" Oh, yeah i like his stuff."

Pops****messing up the words but singing along to Big's Juicy***

Pops***messing up the words as usual yet singing along to Dirt off of yourShoulders***

When the greats come thru, EVERYONE KNOWS what it is. OLD almost Old, young, etc. there is no denying it.

These current rappers are not great at all.

I don't hate these cats, I actually fukk with a few Uzi songs.....

But all these cats rap about the same shyt
and basically sound the same. Pop pills, sip syrup, fukk hoes.... Autotuned out singing hook.

I don't mind hearing them at a party or in the background while I'm playing 2k

But who wants to listen to a whole album of that shyt????

I listen to young cats - Earl Sweatshirt, Kevin Gates, Dave East, Young Dolph, etc....

But most of them emo trap cats are pretty lame..... :manny:

Luv is Rage is probably the best complete project that all the rappers you listed have put out.....

But to help me understand where you are coming from.... Can you tell me what it is about this new lil yachty mixtape that makes it a classic?

Old ladies were dancy to Heavy D and the Boys. Old men were nodding to "whats my name" by snoop.

sorry bruh. your thread aint working. i'll give you an example. Public enemy. that sound was SUPPPPER annoying to old heads when it hit. But people in their 30's loved it, people in their 20's loved it, people in their teens loved it.

you are trying to say someone in their 30's dont vibe with current gen rap because they cant understand it.i'm telling you YES THEY CAN. they just dont like what they're hearing.

There's a difference between not really understanding all the slang, dress, etc. vs That song songs TERRIBLE, or That song sounds just like the last 4 i just heard.

these are things that were not said in the golden era of hiphop. because great music is great to everyone. yes there were those who didnt like the cursing, the talking about women in a negative light. but overall, rappers delivery, beats? they liked the music. old heads would say "if you didnt curse so much i would really like that Eazy E guy."

No one is saying anything about these wack rappers from today.

and look at it like this. half the time when you ask them they are talking about how they are in it for the money. which is fine by me, get ya money poor black bruhs. please do.

but that mentality + a lack of talent = bad rap.

I'm young, I don't know anybody that listens to Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, or Lil Yatchy. I heard of Uzi because of OVO Sound Radio. The Yatchy One Night song is getting some play on campus too. I'd say you have to be an internet nikka to even know about these cats though. That hypebeast trap music with dated '12 Keef visuals is trash...

Kodak is dope a lot of people not gonna like him because of his heavy accent, but dude can actually make songs and tries to rap. It took me awhile to understand Thug's appeal but I get it now and that Rich Gang tape is probably going to be remembered as one of the "classic" pivotal releases of the 2010's.

I think hip hop is in a good place right now honestly. A lot dope albums and mixtapes have dropped in the 2010's yet y'all choose to sleep and dismiss artists as trash and judge these dudes off everything but the music.

:mjlol: First joint is like a horrible 2012 chief keef imitation from a tumblr rapper, which is exactly what it is :skip:Yall stay dikkriding the weakest least creative shyt ever. Carti, Uzi, Yachty, all these irony driven faux trap hypebeast rappers do is make watered down version of shyt that was poppin 012-013.
shyt knocks, you're thinking about it too hard, just vibe breh
