So @Cynic you're telling me you really weren't bumping this back in the day?

:troll::russ:

As much as I love how RZA flipped the Can It Be drums for this...it's fukking Shaq breh :dead:

Let some of these dudes tell it, every album from the 90s was a classic :comeon:...and I know more whining about choosing Shaq is coming so lemme switch it up

PMD's first solo from 94 is STRAIGHT ASS but more people than you think will give it a pass because of blind nostalgia

i literally LOLd when you said "its fukkin shaq breh".....your funny.

That's what's funny though.... Every generation thinks their music is the best

In 20 years.... Some one will be sh!tting on that music hardbody while bumping Take Care and GKMC

and all that kid needs to do is point to Iggy Azalea/Trinidad James :mjlol:

There's a thread in here with pensioners sh!ttin on today for not sampling enough ....

Then fossils sh!tting on them for even sampling because that's not real composition/instrumentation

You can keep going until you hit gospel/slave plantation anthems

I guess I'm :flabbynsick: because I have no idea what a lilyatchy, kodak black, or lil uzi is...

But I still fukk with Cole, Kendrick, and Wale... So I guess I can't be full blown flabby and sick...

Some of these Coli posters just have shytty opinions on music.

Anyone that says beats & melodies >>>> lyricism and substance in rap is either a young kid or just a damn fool. You might as well listen to pop and top 40 if that's what gets your rocks off..

This is the type of disingenuous comparisons I was talking about.

Off the top of my head I can't name a single person that liked PMD's solo album. shyt was labeled wack as fukk immediately.

Erick Sermon? Yes. PMD? NO.

So what are you talking about breh?

Start a thread right now about classic 90's albums and I guarantee zero people will mention Shaq or PMD. I don't know why you dudes keep bringing up these random ass albums nobody really fukked with. Nobody is saying every single song that came out in the 90's is classic but the ratio of good to weak shyt was far better than it currently is. I don't see how anybody in their right mind, who was actually around back then, can argue against that.

Most of todays rap = "lowest common denominator" music. Meaning there's absolutely ZERO intelligence involved. Yes, the beats are hot of course, but there's no meaning or substance. Most of the music is meant to lead you off a cliff mentally with its glamourization of toxic behaviour. And most importantly, this is by design:

Truth is, 90s had some wack shyt and so did the 00s...a lot actually

What Im noticing with this current gen tho is a need to legitimize their era. It comes off as an insecurity when these zeitgeist ass dudes start throwing established legends under the bus.

This era is lucky. Theres Thugga and Kendrick. Future and Drake etc etc. Lots of different sounds and access to entire catalogs and eras at the click of a mouse. Thats why its mindblowing when you meet people who are completely content with listening to whatevers hot or on the radio AND want you to actually respect their taste in music and claim its all subjective lol...

Mainstream rap is being used as a marketing tool and is basically an extension of meme culture at this point....We loved the Dips and G-Unit and Lil Jon shyt, but it looks a bit funny 10 yrs later. This current shyt is gonna look EXTRA funny in hindsight
