I completely understand (and agree)...

BUT...

Can we really fault Dre for that album not dropping? It's been 50-11 years since Ra left Aftermath and he's had 1 album since then (7th Seal)......If Ra was really trying to make music we'd have something from him. I don't honestly think Dre was the problem.

BUT, I'd still love to hear an album from them... :sadcam:

I'm not sure that album with Ra would've been as dope as we expected it to be. Dre is all about chemistry, and Stat Quo made the point that though the songs they were doing for the album were "cool", they were missing something. He mentioned that Dre wanted complete songs, not just verses and beats. Dre's big on hooks. Ra's career consists of him not really being that present on hooks. So that's a tough match. I remember Dre saying that if he's working in the studio harder than you, then it's not going to work.

When Fif jumped in the studio with Dre, he had hooks and complete songs ready. Dude just had that thing, even on those old mixtapes, where he could create an entirely new song from someone's original joint. That's the type of shyt Dre apparently likes, and probably why he was so enthusiastic about the Game debut. He wants to make big records.

Bingo!! I've always said this. Dre could have capitalized even more off of his name musically. The nikka could have dropped a hell of a lot more albums on aftermath.

All he had to do was attach his name. Imagine if he signed kurupt and daz, all he had to do is say Dr Dre presents..... Or produced by and any album he dropped would have sold like crazy

dre is about the manipulation and quality of sonics in rap, music.
equaling large more distinct sales and explosion pop wise. When, he has no real advancement sonically to add to rap. I feel he will shut down showcasing his skill. With beats, he was able to pretty much change the entire sonic landscape of music. To be his own, so I think once that agenda was met. Dre, really has no need to make music anymore. As, he already achieved his end goal as a musician/engineer technical sound marvel.

“That’s what I think happened to each and every artist (on Aftermath), and you also kind of get used to being under his shield,” he said. “You can get in to all the clubs, you know, ‘I’m rolling with Dre’ is kind of like a Black Card, it’s Aftermath motherfu*ker! So when you get on your own, you don’t really know how to fend for yourself, it’s like ‘which way do I go?’ (Dre) pretty much has a blank check budget, but you don’t. You don’t have the amenities that you’ve grown accustomed to having during his recording process and all of a sudden your comfort zone is snatched from under you with no real explanation. You feel slighted and helpless and unable to fend for yourself

funny how basically every Aftermath artist has lost their way because of Dre not fukking with them like he used to - Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, etc. etc. If you think about it there's a point in all those guys' careers where Dre just starts giving zero fukks about them and they try and bounce back but are never as good without him

thinking back, it was a MIRACLE that busta was able to get his album released thru aftermath given how many cats had come there and failed to get an album released. I know he was well established, but knowing that label it's still a miracle.

and probably why he was so enthusiastic about the Game debut. He wants to make big records.

How do your reconcile this statement you made, when in the original post. Hitman stated,

“I’ll give it to you like this. Game was fortunate for two reasons: 50 liked what he was doing, so he was able to jump ship, and Dre wasn’t working on his own album at that time,” Hittman said during his interview with Not Mad.

That don't mesh with all we know about Game being on the shelf and Fif doing his album.

I know for a fact Dre is lazy...and I know what happened with Ra from Ra's own mouth...
That's ironic because I heard Rakim is lazy. Which makes sense because we rarely heard music from him over the years since he came out. He is still the man.

I'm not sure where I read it but, I think Dre wanted Rakim to rhyme more about some ignorant, nikka, shyt and ra wasn't with that, and that's the real reason why they parted ways. Is that what ra told you?

With the NWA movie coming, there should be a soundtrack.

What are the odds of an NWAish song being released on said soundtrack? A song with the surviving members of NWA.

What could that session possibly look like if/when it takes place?
