low key outside of the crow gimmick, if SID was gone and didn't talk for an entire year, then started showing up in the crowd and pointing to the crowd, he would've gotten as or MORE over imo. Sid's ability to get over with the crowd is spoken for, in every fed, and if he didn't talk you're taking away his only weakness.
Sid was over no matter what he did. Dude was Lesnar before there was a Lesnar. I really need a Sid dap smiley :sadcam:

they got the heat beating up and destroying SAVAGE and LUGER after batb when sting was making emo promos about being betrayed and then dissapeared. Hell, the outsiders & Syxx vs. Flair / Piper was hot as hell too...

Crow sting was scott hall's idea, and it spawned because they had no faith in him being able to keep up with the nWo coolness on the mic...they were right because as soon as he started talking business went south and don't even get me started on sting in the wolfpack.

They keep forgetting that Sting was gonna be the 3rd man of the nwO didnt go for his career saving heel turn. Confirmed by Hogan, Hall, Nash, Sting, and Bischoff. Goofball said people c/s Sting because they think they have to. Sound like a grown man to you? He thinks this is Colombia circa Pablo Escobar era where you have to do something or its death:laugh: The stupidity of trailer park fanbases. Always comical.

Only thing I'll add is what Ive always maintained about Sting and that is the most remarkable thing about him is that he managed to put together a HOF-type career while stealing every single character and gimmick from other aspects of pop culture.

Obviously took the name from the similarly blonde-haired musician that was one of the biggest rock stars in the world. His facepaint was basically a takeoff of his old tag parter Warrior. Then he jumped to Crow gimmick. Then the Joker. His "WOOOOO!" is a blatant bite of Flair. "Its showtime, folks" = old catchphrase. Hell, before he became Sting he had two monikers: Flash and Blade Runner. :heh: Dude never had an original moment in his career.

That being said, Ive always still been a fan.

I don't disagree with your points about him borrowing things at all but this exact post damn near can be cut and pasted in reference to a LOT of legitimate Hall of Famers. That's the wrestling biz in a nutshell

Hulk Hogan- Superstar Billy Graham
Dusty- Thunderbolt Patterson
Flair- Buddy Rogers
Stone Cold- Sandman, Bad News Allen, Taz
HBK- Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert, Ric Flair

Sting's best work as a performer pre dates the nWo angle when the maybe 1/4 of us here who were lucky enough to have cable and gave enough of a damn to watch WCW in the early 90's. Storyline wise it made sense for to be him where he was vs the nWo given what he was to the company, could you have plugged other people in and gotten similar sure

(Especially if you had a time machine to go grab a 12 year younger version of the OG Horsemen perhaps)

The nWo thing was just one of those things that was destined to work because of the oh shyt that's cool factor, how could it not have.

Sting shouldn't get flack for being in the right place when lighting struck no different than say Stone Cold having the stroke of luck and opportunity that the Kliq decided to hug it out and alter plans PLUS having Jake Roberts feel spiritual at the 96 King of the Ring and sparking a monumental promo.

So who would've had that great feud with nWo if it wasn't Sting..credibly, who else would've filled that spot for people to care and have the reactions they was giving?

IMO DDP could have gotten the same reactions if they didn't book him to get beat down and spraypainted every other week

Stone Cold Steve Austin busted out laughing when his callers brought up Meltzer saying he wasn't a draw. Brought up Sting being on top when the WWF was getting their asses whooped for nearly 2 years. Rock himself has always wanted to work with Sting...he wanted to wrestle him or Macho Man at WM 21. Little did he know that the WWE would let his contract run out in Dec 04 and he would find out by the media instead of direct contact.

This is a fact. That's one of my main knocks on Sting is he is in that Ricky Steamboat lane where I don't know that they could pull off being a nasty heel for a long haul. Hogan was perfect and I'm glad he saw the light on it.

Back up or not, they knew he was the only guy that could do it if Hogan was off board. That in itself speaks volumes on the entire charade of this situation.

Lol@Sid? He would of been stumbling and looking silly...he would botched the first promo and the whole angle would of ended a premature bust.

Sting wasn't floundering. ..WCW was floundering because they were doing Kevin Sullivan angles and bullshyt like that.

That's true. Once Hogan expressed an interest in being the third man, it was pretty much a done deal as long as he didn't reconsider. And Hogan in that role was clearly the best choice.

But before Hogan showed any interest in turning heel, the original plan (according to Bischoff in his book) was to go with Sting as the third man. They wanted a big name, and they wanted a shocking choice. Nobody thought Hogan wanted to turn heel at the time, so they didn't even ask him at first.

Bischoff says Sting was literally standing by ready to fill in, in case Hogan changed his mind at the last minute.
