Honestly I don't get why the average consumer is buying the Xbox One or PS4 right now

I don't get why people say stuff like this.

The Xbox one is a step up beyond the 360 in every way, and I assume the same goes for the ps4.

If you like games and want to have the best gaming experiences, then there is plenty of good reason to buy a next gen console.

but I'm speaking more on people not investing in mediocrity because they'd like things to be better. I know it is rather lofty, and would probably be as successful as 'boycott fast food day' when I saw cars lined up around Taco Bell

I'm speaking on the idea of these systems/games being "mediocre".

They are not. They are the best gaming/entertainment experiences you can get for the money right now. There is nothing mediocre about the Ps4 X1 or Wii U

The upgrade in game play for sports games is too nice. I had to upgrade, because last gen was way too frustrating for sport titles.

killer instinct - one of the most refreshing fighting games out

Everything could get better. Everything will always get better. If we shouldn't buy things because they will get better later, then we should never buy anything. Why the hell you keep buying all that PC equipment that's gonna be "mediocre" next year ?

Games always have room to grow, and next gen showed me that, the improvements on the sports games alone makes me think about the possibilities.

Realism, game physics and the AI is the final frontier in gaming, improved graphics is pretty much expected.

I couldn't touch 360 knowing its too under powered to execute game mechanics as smoothly and as potent as next gen.

Upgrades in the game engines is what always got me excited about FIFA and NBA2K. The new game engine in next gen FIFA kills anything in last gen FIFA.

you ain't know?? bf4 raised the bar breh. leaning your head/tilting your joystick to lean in game

serious question though is dead rising 3 vastly different from 1 and 2? i'm not talking visually, i'm talking gameplay wise is it different? i've played both 1 & 2 and both are fun but by the end of the game that shyt was meh. imo the dead rising series is like infamous series, fun but very average games....
