Herbie Hancock still makes music too... In fact he won a Grammy for best album a few years ago... Lalah Hathaway still makes music... Marsha Ambrosius as well...

Its not my fault you degenerates only look to Hip Hop to define what is "black music"

There is tons of great black music out there... I'm not gonna hold your hand and help you find it... Your name is Jesse Jackson, You should be an expert on it :BABY:

Sarcasm my friend....:ehh:

It is not celebrated in the black community though.:ehh: Herbie hasn't been in decades. Sad, because he is a genius.

I wasn't saying her lyrics were deep, I was saying she was a million times better artist than Frank. Frank isn't even close to good R&B cats like Maxwell.

You mentioned lyrics though. I got you now.

I strongly disagree that she's "a million times better", you're severely underselling dude. While I have zero problem with the idea that she made better music, I feel he has a stronger sense of artistry and creativity and actually strives to write an album. But we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Just get some young talent to make Motown-style music again.

But there have been great R&B albums that have come out in the past 5 years that have been GREAT... Sade's last album comes to mind...Marsha Ambrosius, lalah Hathaway... All of these artists and MANY more still make good R&B music... :manny:

Go listen to the R&B acts who have been doing it for years and are still doing it... Now when the Charlie Wilsons, Sade's, Herbie Hancocks of the world die and were stuck with Chris brown:heh:... Then I'll say the genre is dead...

naa..that type of music came from an era of struggle..shyt,basically ALL of our best music came during an era when nikkas was going thru some type of struggle (hiphop & blues mainly)

black folks still struggling thou, but in this era of technology, everybody seems more jaded, watered down and lacking character

Man, its the fukking Grammys. If you arent on a major and being serviced to radio, you dont exist. Aside from a courtesy "Best Rap Album" after-thought, and some other non-televised genre-based awards that get no pub.....its really the same 10-to-15 people being nominated over and over on any given year.

Im a CAC, and its not like excessive Country coverage, Taylor Swift and Fun are repping for whites either. I like the Lumideers and Mumford and Sons are alright. Theres also way more interesting "rock" (-ish) music than JUST the Black Keys over and over that dont get mentioned.

Basically, none of the music I truly fukks with was represented at all, regardless of skin color. I watch the show every year and usually end up regretting it (except for a FEW key performances and moments). Stop being idiots, its a mainstream awards show geared for the LOWEST common denominators in America.

Black music is fine and always will be.

Jazz, gospel, funk, blues...etc

Jazz? Jazz ain't been a dominant black art form in close to 50 years, white people raped that

Gospel - sure, but being realistic, that has limited reach, if you're not Christian and/or don't want to be preached to 24/7 you're not listening. Also, there may be good voices, but 60% of it is the same song re-recorded and all that contemporary stuff sounds like a bad r&b track

Blues...see jazz

Funk/disco...both were dead in the 80's. when was the last time a new black artist was a purely funk artist? Stop

Regardless how you wanna slice it, hip hop/r&b are on struggle

Of course the black music cacs try to force down our throats through the mainstream will be diluted in quality.*

Um, mainstream music isn't music cacs try to force down black peoples throats, it's black music that cacs dilute, force down and sell to other cacs for profit.

black people have never been one to follow mainstream, we know it's not for us, it's dumb downed for the masses and profit. one thing black people are genius at, is music. we created american music point blank. whatever is mainstream has never been the most popular trend in the black community, usually it's already old. the age of information is sort of blurring that since cacs can get street music in real time (see trap, drill, and juke), but that doesn't take away from the fact that black music will always be innovative and created underground, no matter how quick it's brought to light for the mainstream.

can't wait for the next genre, I thought it was going to be juke, but damn they stripped that down quick as fukk. :snoop: I think now, with everyone having a computer and media being in real time, there's not going to be much 'black underground music' anymore. kinda sad but it is what it is.

It's both. I don't know if you have BET in Asia, but flick the channel to 106 & Park on weekdays at 6 if you do. The show is dominated by a young black audience. Look at the songs being promoted. Same shyt cacs love. It's a dual agenda. Not mutually exclusive.
