Folks still debating universal healthcare when all other developed nations have it and pay less than us. No one says everything is perfect, but it's obviously better.

Let's stop being clowns please.

The mental relief of single payer healthcare is severely underrated, especially by folks that have had the luxury of always having lived with it.
It's a step in the right direction. Social security was not perfect when it started. The idea that people can save for unforeseen events is pretty stupid. There was a story on how Obama offered to help Biden financially when his son was sick. The average middle class and lower middle class can not possibly prepare for some of the huge outlays.

Most other developed countries control costs, in part, by having the government play a stronger role in negotiating prices for healthcare. Their healthcare systems don’t require the high administrative costs that drive up pricing in the U.S. As the global overseers of their country's systems, these governments have the ability to negotiate lower drug, medical equipment and hospital costs. They can influence the mix of treatments used and patients’ ability to go to specialists or seek more expensive treatments.

So far in the U.S., there has been a lack of political support for the government taking a larger role in controlling healthcare costs. The most recent legislation, the Affordable Care Act, focused on ensuring access to healthcare, but maintained the status quo to encourage competition among insurers and healthcare providers. This means there will be multiple payers for the services and less powerful control over negotiated pricing from providers of healthcare services.

The deeper issue is that it benefits pharmaceutical companies and "certain" hospitals, and clinics to keep people "sick"

Healthcare tom foolery is going no where

:sas2:

Aside from people who are born with disabilities and heritable diseases like juvenile diabetes, MS, cancer, etc... there needs to be a greater emphasis on preventative healthcare...

...says this while eating a 5 Guys Burgers and Fries double cheeseburger, fries with the cajun seasoning, and an extra large Coke to wash it all down :lolbron::flabbynsick:

There isn't a single developed nation in the world with universal healthcare that isn't struggling to contain costs and suffering from overruns

But is that worse than Obamacare in total?

There isn't going to be a system that works effectively for everyone. At least with that, everyone shares a bit of "L" vs. entire groups taking the entire L.

I think the Singaore model would be a step in the right direction of creating a free market healtcare market.
I agree the notion that there can be a centrally managed best system is absurd, thats why its best to leave it in the hands of the individual to purchase the level of care they desire. IMHO.
This notion of collective health is absurd, there is no collective health, we are individuals, we should not be force to bear the burden of someone else at the threat of government violence.
