Yeah. Looking back, there really was not one year where Beyoncé ran shyt.

2002-2004 was Ashanti and Alicia Keys.

2005 was Mariah.

2006 was Mary J.

2007 was Rihanna.

2008-2009 was really when Bey hit the home run with Sasha Fierce and started really taking over the game. But let these nikkas tell it, Bey been running shyt since the beginning.

I’d say Bey, Ashanti and Alicia Keys were like LeBron, Melo and Wade rookie season from 2002 to 2004. All had promising solo careers in front of them.

Keep in mind, J-Lo was still running the charts back then too with her non singing ass.

In 2005, Mariah took a giant shyt on everybody. Emancipation of Mimi was a classic for real. JD don’t get enough credit producing that and Confessions in a 2 year period. He was on fire.

In 2006, Bey started to gain some steam with B’Day as Ashanti fell off but Alicia Keys was right with her selling just as many albums. Amerie dropped 1 Thing which was a heat rock. Mary J Blige had a big comeback album. Ciara graduated from a young chick to grown woman status with Promise. Keyshia Cole dropped I Should’ve Cheated, Love in that 2005/2006 period too which were major songs on the radio. I forgot about Rihanna. Her too.

In 2007, Alicia Keys had the As I Am album. No One got played on the radio so much I started to hate it. Like Ill Never See You Again and Teenage Love Affair got worn out on MTV and 106th and Park too.

I’d say about 2008 is when the Bee Hive era started with Sasha Fierce. Anybody acting like Bey ran shyt before then is lying. It was like one day we had 10 female artists all dropping dope music and then before you know it, it was just Beyoncé.

:rudy: uhhh...if proof comes out that somebody sabotaged her career then yes. that's fukked up and completely discussion worthy.

so funny this discussion shifted from the evidence and interviews they provided in the video - even Envy and Charlamagne asked her about it on their show

but this is all just some coli shyt though. :martin:
I just don't see how its possible. Amerie wasnt even Beyoncé's biggest competition at the time. Alicia Keys was. They were the two young "it" girls in R&B. Mary and Mariah were already legend status at that point so they don't count. Amerie was on a second tier. You could make the argument that Ashanti was more competition for Beyoncé as well.

People's careers don't go the way they want and they always wanna blame everybody else like the Lox instead of looking in the mirror:mjlol:

Im not denying that industry politics could've played a major part but for all we know Amerie could've just lacked the work ethic it takes to make it in the industry:yeshrug:

watch the video. it wasn't about being "bigger" than them, she even said herself that beyonce and j-lo were the labels top priority when she got there - they were HUGE STARS she was a rookie.

but she was definitely on the way to their status. they took her sound because of it too; black radio was wearing "FALL IN LOVE" out...again, y'all cats have to talk about the contents of the video AT SOME POINT IN HERE.

everybody took that sound Amerie had, that isn't even debatable our ears work and the girl who made this video actually MATCHED THE SONGS TOGETHER.

here's what's funny - people have said for years this is what killed DAS FX career, yet now all of a sudden this is something new to people? that artists and labels even do this? :what:

No way she was on her way to that status. Beyoncé had more hits on her debut album than Amerie had in her whole career:heh:

And about Dax Efx. The thing that killed theyre career was the iggity gimmick thing. Which was cool at the time but when the fad they started passed we realized they were just two average MCs

I forgot all about that Alicia Keys album As I Am. So we can factor her into 2007 as well.

Deja Vu - darkchild
Upgrade u- Swizz beats
Irreplaceable- neyo

Non of her major singles on that album were produced by Harrison

On her debut album Harrison had the lead single but her other three top 5 hits were all produced by Scott storch. (Baby boy, me myself & I, Naughty girl)

That rich Harrison narrative y'all roll with is an escape for Ameries career failures, but truthfully outside of Beyoncés lead single he's not responsible for anymore of her hits.

If you want to take it a step further Beyoncé whole style switched up with I am Sasha fierce to her female diva anthems. What did that have to do with amerie "I love it" album flopping? She even got another shot with def jam but that didn't work either.
No daps when you spit that truth that’s not with their narrative

As the video pointed out, beyonce stole ameries sound and rode her wave to success - the evidence is all there, if you CHOOSE not to see it :hubie:

And my point about DasFx is that everybody used that style afterward - you can’t eat if people with larger followings than you steal your sound.

As the thread title said, it was beyonce and j Lo, plus you all are adding “hits” to the equation, the argument is that her sound was stolen

Also beyonce used that sound well into her career - freekum dress wasn’t a hit, but she sure dropped it as a single and shot a video to it didn’t she :sas2:
