Planes are inspected before and after every flight. Cars are inspected once a year. And a lot of people are late.
Each plane has a pilot and co-pilot being directed by other trained professionals. Cars are driven by one person only.
Planes have redundant mechanics. 2 engines, multiple hydraulics, radios, etc... Cars only have 1 engine, 1 brake system, 1 battery, 1 fuel system etc...
Pilots are trained for primary, backup and emergency situations. People don't even know what to do when their cars lose traction, or how to use their E-brake.
Last fatal commercial crash (U.S.) was in 2009. Last car accident was probably 5 seconds ago in your city.
There is literally no reason to fear flying. Recently had to convince my uncle to take his first flight ever in his 50 years of life. He thinks driving, especially long distance, is safer.
