as a Raiders fan, I can't really say how great of a talent Jamarcus was or wasn't though, but you best believe that his arm had me excited.

I was riding with him the whole first year he sat out for most of, I was saying pay that man, but dude definitely is a cautionary tale. I'm not even putting it all on him, he was a young rich guy who clearly let his food/substance/personal demons get the best of him, but he wouldn't be the first Raider player of the last 20 years to show up and not give a fukk lol.

I'm not sure bad is the right word, I would go more with disappointing because quite frankly i'm not sure we know what he'd have been with his head on straight. so saying he was "bad" speaks to his talent to me and I feel like we never even really got to judge that one way or another properly.

A lot of the hate Cam Newton got was directly because of this guy falling on his face. JaMarcus set the perception on black qb prospects back and many expected (were really hoping for) Cam to follow suit, but when he didn't (and actually outshined their golden boy Andrew Luck) that's when the hate went into overdrive

The same thing happened this year with Dwayne Haskins and Justin Fields. Black Qbs are the only group where one failing becomes an indictment on others coming out for the forseeable future

Nah not really, because it was a lot of black qbs who never panned out from akil to andre, so you can’t blame them

Be stats weren’t as bad as Ryan Leif or some others

he actually didn’t have a crazy amount of Ints but I think he was way worse than even his stats show

Russell had all the same red flags his entire college career. That bowl game against ND & Quinn made everyone put on the blinders for whatever reason.

weight issues, commitment issues, gets down on himself during games when things get tough, no consistency. It really isn't fair when people compare any prospect to Jamarcus, he and Oakland getting together were a particular case of the worst possible marriage. A QB who didn't care about football going to a team who was in the middle of a decade long dumpster fire.

Norfeast groovin…

6:10. So he tested positive for codeine before the draft and the Raiders hired a PI who followed him to the casino almost every night and Al Davis STILL drafted him #1 and gave him the biggest rookie contract ever? :dead:

On God, this was the draft pick that broke me. I haven’t given a fukk ever since. :unimpressed:

AP would’ve changed the culture of the team. CJ would’ve been the most prolific talent in franchise history. But no, draft jawalrus instead......:francis:
