Which is why i said "in general" or "generally speaking" in just about every post.

If 99% of the DC metro region is not listening to their music and never has listened to their music...then i believe it's fair to state that practically noone listens to Wu-Tang over here.
DC metro got to be like 3 million people. Tell me how in God's green earth you know what 99% of these people like :heh:
Even if you limit it to the city limits that's 600,000+. You don't know a tenth of that population....

Multiple people are saying we know people who did rock with these nikkas, while you alone are saying nobody did.

Also what is this myth that "Tical" is some kind of weak album. Sh!t was hard. I'd give it a solid 4-4.5 Mics easy. It really was the album that paved the way for all the Wu solo's after. It set the tone that would lead to "Cuban Linx, Liquid Swords, Return of the 36 Chambers and Ironman". It was "Tical 2000" that was a let down cause of the trillion randon skits on it. But even then Meth was a star and "Tical 2000" almost sold more records than Garth Brooks. Also his sophomore still had some crazy bangers on it. It's his last 2 albums that really let down. The Puff joint and the other joint.

Being a lifelong resident of this city & metro region alone gives me a large enough sample size to put me in tune with the general public's taste...DC does not rock with WU and never have. If you and your internet friends like the WU...cool, Leave it at that. BUT DC DOES NOT ROCK WITH THE WU, k? the fact that you can't even find any of the go-go bands from the 90's that has ever covered one of their songs should tell you they ain't never been shyt here and should've been enough to put this argument to bed. And the only dude in this thread that claimed to be from the region has said they were never generally popular here...so what exactly are you debating at this point? :stopitslime:

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
It was ANNOYINGLY big here in the Tri-State.

It was so big that I stopped liking it.

I was actually looking for Inspectah Deck to be the standout because I liked his verse the most (followed by ODB) on Protect Ya' Neck in '92.

All I know is that Meth was on fire when this dropped and it's a shame that he didn't blow up to the level that many expected. I always believed that the drugs played a downfall in him not reaching his potential cause there is no way that Meth shouldn't have had the East coast on lock along with Biggie and later Jay-Z.

It was huge, so was All That I Need. He was set to be the original 'star' in the Wu, before Ghost and Rae really became
fan favorites

One of the biggest songs IMHO opinion in the early 90s. For you 90s babies, the Wu movement was bigger than Dipset, it was like Dipset x10, that's how strong it was, had nikkaz all over the world rockin' jumpsuits, goggles, camo gear, and throwin' up the Wu. On an international basis. IMHO probably the greatest group in hiphop ever.

I didn't know ghost a Rae where fan favs above meth. Ghost is def my fav out the crew

This. People need to stop revising history. On 36 chambers most people could only even identify meth and odb. No one was noticing ghost and rae till later.

This is all true. I remember half the dudes in my school left at lunch to get the bobby digital cd. They were giving away a free t shirt so that afternoon everyone was wearing one. :heh:

In 94 technically Method Man was the 2nd Biggest Rapper in New York next to Biggie. Yes NaS was there but "Tical" blew up something heavy. Plus he had carry over from shinning on the Wu album.

This right here should end all speculation on how huge meth was back in 94.

Ghost & rae were def better from a "technical" stand point.

Meth had the people, though..and he was more accepted globally.

I would say Meth was probably the most popular rapper from NYC during that period...his buzz was crazy. even bigger than biggie's

I can't agree with this, Rae had the first verse on 2/4 of the singles off "36 Chambers". ODB stood out because of his style, Meth stood out because an entire single was his song, but I wouldn't say nobody noticed Rae.
