It was massive..it cemented the hardcore sound in NY. I remember seeing the video for the first time, and there being only one chick with them in the slums. A different time to now, thats for damn sure.

The reason Meth solo career didn't eclipse Biggie, Jay or NaS was he waited too long after the debut album to drop his 2nd album. Between his debut and 2nd album was 5 years. Yes he was doing tons of Wu callbo's and other projects but that's what kinda set his solo career back. Here's a look at Meth's career sales. It's amazing cause nobody in Wu had this type of Success:

Tical - Platinum (1.6 sold)
Tical 2000 - Platinum (1.6 Sold)
Tical 0: The Prequel - Gold (700k)
Tical 4:21 The Day After - (300k)
Blackout - Platinum

All I Need - Platinum
How High - Gold

No Wu member can say they moved more units than Meth till this day.

4: 21 isn't a let down breh

Honestly to me it kinda was. Don't get me wrong, it was slightly better than "Tical: 0" but not by much. Here's how I rate Meth's Catalog:

Tical - 4.5 MICS (I considered it a Classic though)
Tical 2000 - 4 MICS
Tical 0: The Pequel - 3 MICS
Tical 4:21: 3.5 MICS

Yo can't wait for Crystal Meth or whatever the name of the next album is. But LOL @ "Tical 2000" having 11 skits. I do give him props for some fo the names he got on there like Trump, Chris Rock and Janet Jackson.

I was born in 94 so I dont remember this dropping. Must have been HUGE though :banderas:

on a side note how big was the 90's hiphop that people from the next decade clung onto our artist instead of or in addition to establishing their on own trends and artists?

i mean i was born in 1985. you never see me in here talking world class wrecking crew. i never even fukked with or run dmc like that.
any 80s babies in here bumping roxanne's revenge?

not hating, just something i noticed.

ll cool j was the only execption

T2 is just too long and all those skits take away from it although a few of them are funny. The album works for me though because it's his best performance

Meth was huge. His singles were fire but most of the people I knew that had tical expected it to be the east coast chronic and were disappointed.

Anybody in here saying Wu wasn't the shyt back then (even in the south) is lying or just trying to be difficult for the sake of arguing.

Bring the pain video had such an impact I remember nikkaz and bytches were literally moving like meth when the song came on at parties and clubs (which stayed on repeat) That song might as well have been called "do the method man" lol

Actually... I'm the one being called a liar here. :pachaha:

I made a FACTUAL statement about the general musical tastes of the folks in MY CITY and i get barraged with all these :duck:

And you wanna know how it's true that WU has always been a non-factor in this city?

Because you can't show me anything like this...with WU's music being covered like every other relevant artist has got there's done.

Back covering Pac & Snoop

Back covering 3-6 Mafia

I can pull up dozens of these with all the rappers i named...while you'll be able to pull up none for WU.

You know cotdamn well nikkas generally don't listen to WU over here...you just an oddball nikka with eclectic tastes...which is cool i have em too. But don't pretend like the exception is the norm.

Ayy @Tony Muthafu%*in Tubbs you know you fukked up right??:ufdup:

9 Minutes. 26 Seconds. Backyard Band hittin Brooklyn Zoo. And Marygolds hasn't been open that long so this gotta be RECENT which means its been apart of there set for 20 years now...but theres no Wu Tang fans in DC :lupe::childplease:

Now SHUT THE fukk UP. Ya'll take shyt too far sometimes. Just say YOU weren't a fan...

Brooklyn Zoo and Cream were big on the radio in DC

Exactly. I'm not saying Wu Tang was huge, but if you were a hip hop head then how could you not fukk with it at the time? My next door neighbor's older brother was all about that early 90s gangsta rap, he was super excited when Forever was about to drop too. He also used to bring out the machetes and the baby python snake like he was in a Naughty By Nature video :heh: .
