How can I stop my fire stick from stuttering?

Do I need to get fire TV instead? Everything I play stutters, Netflix, HBO, Sling, Kodi, etc. I don't have this issue with any of my other devices: 2 iPads, 3 iPhones, PS 3&4' Xbox 1 & 2 smart tvs.

Nothing stutters on my 1st or 2nd gen FireTV boxes (1st on wireless N, 2nd on wireless AC). Kodi is noticeably faster on gen 2 though.


EDIT: Fire TV 1st gen doesn't support AC

Bruh look up that settings add-on...I forget the name but you can find it in the maitenance area in "the beast". Then you have to manually put in settings to fix the stuttering. YouTube it

Nah, it's not the connection. That's why I made sure to test my other devices. None of those stutter. Bout to order this fire tv box and see what happens

What kind of router do you have and what kind of media are you trying to stream (netflix, amazon video, local, etc.)?

My not so expert opinion is if you're trying to stream netflix, amazon video, etc. and you're stuttering, it's probably your internet connection to your device. You may be able to adjust QoS settings on your router (or just disconnect everything but your fire stick) to see if it helps. If you're trying to stream local content (to kodi/plex/etc.) and it's stuttering, it probably is your device. Not sure how much horsepower the sticks have for heavy lifting.

Fire Stick is ass, doesn't have much processing power but Amazon put it out there to compete with Chromecast. Fire TV is the one to get.

Because each device you have is an individual piece of equipment and has the capability to perform differently. My PS3/PS4 are the same way. Everything in my house is fast over wifi, but connecting those over wifi gives me slow ass speeds almost every time. I have to hardwire them to actually get some use out of them.

Since everything has this problem though, sounds like the stick just doesn't have horsepower needed to stream stuff. Upgrading to the FireTV box will almost certainly fix your issues. Get the second gen to take advantage of your wireless AC capabilities of your router too.
