how can you even debate Jay-z isn't the best rapper from NYC ever?

You are right, no one comes close to Jay z's success. Yes he is the most successful but that's it. His lane wouldn't have even opened if Biggie was around and I am not a huge Big fan either.

Nas is the best and by far better than Jay z. My top has scarface rated higher than Jay.

it amuses me how and why people argue something like this so venomously, lol, how can you?? even if you disagree, this is not an outrageous claim, it's Jay fukking Z, this nikka has only been EXTREMELY relevant for 15 years straight. do yall realize that Jay-z has a 15 year run as arguably the king of rap??? think about that for a second. nikkas say LL Cool J had a run like that too, :russ:, i be wantin to slap shades of black off they ass, LL been old and washed to all us since he was like 27, lol, foh. there are like 4 rappers you can make this thread about and it wouldn't be outrageous, when the catalog and the skills and the relevance and the longevity and the impact is there then it's hard to refute with facts

if you step back for a second and listen to the amount of good music Jay-z has put out and even low key put out its actually amazing. he has been in the game so much longer than Biggie for example and has put out so much better material from girl songs to street songs to rich man songs to feel good songs. people mention rappers like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane or whoever....gag me with a fukking spoon those guys music are outdated and never came with success because overall it was basic stoop NYC music only people from there could like

i am no jay-z stan but after listening to Whoo kid spin his mix on jay-z and then me stepping back to think about all the jay-z songs ive heard in my life i really do appreciate him. easily one of the best rappers ever and by far the best from NYC even shyts on NAS
Can you give us name of the mix?

props

Are we talking just rapping ability, or a rap career as a whole?

If rapping ability, it could be him, but you could also easily make arguments for Nas, Rakim, BIG, Kane, G-Rap, KRS and a maybe a couple others over him.

If we talking about a rap career as a whole, of course its him. What dude is doing is unprecedented for rappers from NY or anywhere else.

Title says best rapper, nothing in his post said anything about his career, just his catalogue of music

Brooklyn son
no other rappper in NY can sell out the garden. Not even Nas...sorry.

Again the jigga warriors ignore the question and use jays popularity and money. We didn't say anything about attendance records for stadiums at a rap concert. We talking about rap. Like rhyme two words together. No money no maybachs. Beats and rhymes. Jay ain't even top 20 in his city. My list confirms that. I forgot to add

Jaz-o
Jadakiss
Styles P
Ghostface
Raekwon
Jae Hood
Max B

The list goes on and on

Because Nas is from NYC.

Because 50 is from NYC.

Because Lloyd banks is from NYC.

Because Mobb Deep from NYC.

So many legends from New York so always expect a debate.
