Honestly, as far as accomplishments, longevity, and relevance, there is only ONE rapper who can stand toe to toe with Nasir, and his name is Jay-Z. So really it hould be unarguable that the Goat debate is only between those 2. Now taking the battle out of the discussion, Jay-Z has ADMITTED both to his fans and himself that he's "dumbed down his lyrics to double his dollars". As we know and understand that Hip Hop is both a culture and a business we can't alone put this against Jay, sometimes you have to play the game, fair enough. But now BOTH artists have cemented legacies, BOTH artists are more than secure financially, and Both artists are looked at as icons. There is no reason for either of them to have to dumb it down, so what does Nas do? He raps from his soul, he challenges the status quo (Hip Hop Is Dead) he makes intelligent and poignant statements on race relations and the African American experience in this country (Untitled) he champions African culture, identity, and strength (Distant Relatives) as well as looks inward with deep introspection, astoundingly brutal honesty, and maturity (Life Is Good) Nas uses his platform, his talent, his passion and his focus to continuing to bring both new and unique aspects to the genre. He does it all with the skill of a genius and the poise of a legend. Sure On To The Next one and nikkas In Paris will make us get hype, but Africa Must Wake Up and Daughters will make us THINK. nikkas in Paris won't be remembered beyond the next sophisticated ignorance anthem that Kanye can cook up, but Bye Baby, as a testament to the complexities of marriage will be timeless, for the message itself will remain relevant for as long as man dares gives his heart to a woman and it doesn't work out.

THAT is why Nas is the greatest, because he is the ONLY one on a mainstream level who for TWENTY YEARS has searched deep enough within himself to figure out how to relate to an audience, grow with an audience, and continually captivate an audience with lyricism and music of true SUBSTANCE. Nas is who you turn too when you need an example of Hip Hop as art, as culture, as poetry, as a way of LIFE. An 8th grade drop out who writes with the complexity and ferocity James Baldwin, the beauty and elegance of Shakespeare, and the cadence and confidence of Langston Hughes. Truly a remarkable example of the genre. THE GREATEST......

Iight iight.. now how u want it done?
The tux or the toolie.

I'll do it with the tux

Not even 2 sentences in and you already start talkin that dumb nikka Nas stannery shyt.
Nas stands toe to toe with Jay as far as accomplishments, longevity and relevance??:wow:
Are u fukking insane ma dude? Jay is leagues above Nas when it comes to relevancy times longevity.
And accomplishments?? You have the audacity to say that Nas shares the same amount of accomplishments as Hov? What df was u sippin on when u typed that bullsht.
Im sure even ur fellow Nas stans arent dumb enough to agree with such a delusional statement.

I could end it right here but lets move along.
Your whole argument about Nas being the greatest because he kicks what u like to call "knowledge" is comedic at best.
And the way you try and connect that to say that Nas is more relatable and mark that as a point for Nas is borderline delusional.

I can guarantee you more people were able to relate to WTT than DR.
Why? Because at the end of the day Jay represents what a majority of hip hop fans desire. The whole ice cold hustler is what a majority of hip hop fans wish to be like.
Now whether thats negative or positive isnt the issue.
Rather that more people relate and rock with Hov than they do Nas.
The proof is in the pudding B:jawalrus:

And your whole substance argument which all ur fellow Nas stans like to pull is again comedic at best. Because like I said Jay raps about his past, his life and how he's better than other rappers..and when he's kicking knowledge, its knowledge on how to be successful and be a successful hustler which is something he's really about. Discrediting the man for being himself on tracks is not only reaching, its tasteless.

Nas' career cant compare to Hov's and the only thing you Nas stans are left with are fickle unpopular opinions of discography comparisons, objectifying of mere subject matter preferences, and ur tight bubble standards of what u call lyricism.

Nothing concrete.
You have no concrete basis to say Nas is GOAT at all.
While we Jay stans continue to hit u with truth after truth, stat after stat to get it through ur thick heads that Nas can not and will never be able to compare to Hov.

At all.

Nas needed Takeover to live, you Nas stans prove that everyday when the way u keep him relevant on this board is as an antagonist to Jay.

Nas can never be compared to Hov.
When u accept that..then maybe the stanning will stop

Maybe:wow:

to me, a bulk of Nas's albums are average.. he's the GOAT to me, but i'm just sayin..

he's got like 5 albums that are EXTREMELY GOOD or better...and he's got like 6 albums that are ehh to me, they cool, they iight.

does anybody else have 5 albums that are classic or almost classic?

I mean lets be real here. Most of us know Nas has the greatest catalog in the history of hip hop. I know music is subjective but what other rapper has a better catalog?

Consistency man. Nas has dropped some of my favorite records of all time, but he has also made some of the wackest. I already give him a pass because no one else in my top 5 has a record as wack as Big Girl or an album worse than Nastradamus. But to say he's the undisputed greatest?

Jay Z a herb.

Is he good at what he does? Yes. But did he do what nikkas in Brooklyn thought he was going to do? No.

The nikka dont even sound Brooklyn anymore.

Hes like the herb step son Biggie had when he got with Hip-Hop. The little nikka wanted to be cool, and Biggie was putting him on to the game. But as soon as the little nikkas step father got murked, his true colors came out.

He didnt try to keep the connect and think big like Ace Boogie. He ended up keeping the work, fukking over all his nikkas. And now he is on top alone chilling with chicago nikkas that wear skirts.

Hip-Hop's strength is in the way the fans always try to keep it 100.

He even made the assumption that he is better than Biggie. :snoop:

AZ/Fabolous are probably the closest nikkas to what Brooklyn is.

Difference is clown.. He was a double plat artist when Takeover dropped. You probably were 6yrs old then

Difference is dumbass... Nas previous album before "Stillmatic" was "Nastradamus"... his worse album... he had fallen off in a lot of peoples eyes after that...

They need an IQ test before letting nikkas post on this site... :snoop:

You must remember that in the bizzaro world of Coli, albums like Nastradamus, Untitled and Street Disciples are viewed as great albums
