Depending on era and personal tip: God Son and Lost Tapes (that 2002 run was a high point for Nas) and I think he's had a couple of very good albums recently that would be important classic records to HIS catalogue (Life is Good) but probably not impact on the rest of the game.

Nas is a complete mc for me
both mainstream AND undergroung appeal, who else can make songs with keri hilson, then raekwon, then killa priest the joss stone. He's kinda like Busta he made songs with everybody thats important in the rap world and ill
we went thru a lot of eras, main source and akinyale to g rap, qb rappers to wu to the shiny era ruff ryders era, g unit and aftermath eras, south era and now hipster era and each and in the last two eras we didn't change his music that much
his flow and his voice are one of the best of the genre and contrary to a lot of other great rappers he was ill from the beginning and didn't had to find his style, and in 20132 his flow is still powerful even thought his style is different (more complex I should say)
he's one of the most respected mc not just entertainer
he challenged himself in tracks with the best and almost never got outshined (canibus, big pun, g rap, rakim, az, tragedy khadafi, slick rick, snoop, busta, meth, rebel ins, raekwon, scarface ect)
he has classic bars and classic verses (something you only see with spitters and a lot of cats that are not in the mainstream like that)
he have a mystique of his own, kinda like sade, he didn't need to drop records after records to stay relevant and he come from a legendary projects who already had an history before him, not to mention he came in the game like a prodigy, a phenomenon with veteran lyrics trapped in a 18 year old man
he has a ill catalogue and if you take only on consideration the songs and not just the albums and include the unrealesed, he's definitly above all. His problem is that he's not good at choosing the tracks that that should make the cut and not the choice of beats (ex, the 3 best songs of LIG are bonus tracks)
he rapped on beats by primo, alchemist, dre, timbo, rza, marley marl, pete rock and large pro to name a few, who can claim that much
only rapper to have two books dedicated to his album, first rapper to have 5 mics at the time where it was a real recognizion, first non wu rapper to be on their album, first new yorker on a dre beat, set trend of multiple producer one album, set trend of sing on choruses, set trend of puttin a child on the cover, and all those things count more and did more for hip hop that anything else
