This doesn't get talked about enough, and this shyt bothers me.

It's embarrassing to see Nick Sirianni, Andy Reid, Frank Reich, Bruce Arians, and even Dan Campbell, hire a black oc. Yet these chump ass Black HC's will run to try and find an "innovative" white coach. Yet at the same time, they'll you that there's discrimination and unfairness in the hiring practices(I'm looking at you, Mike Tomlin)

That's an uncomfortable question, but it needs to be asked. You are right.

Dennis Green did hire three black offensive coordinators. He had Ray Sherman and Sherman Lewis in different years in Minnesota and Alex Wood in Arizona.

Ray Rhodes also did have a black offensive coordinator (retained Sherman Lewis after Holmgren left)

Tony Dungy didn't ever hire one but he had Jim Caldwell as his QB coach and elevated him to head coach when he left.

But I agree, it's rare.

Well from the collegiate level, it’s frowned upon. I rooted for a team whose Black HC wanted to hire a Black OC and had to settle for a mediocre 5th choice of an OC because boosters didn’t want to foot the contract for a Black coach who is now an HC himself with a super majority Black coaching staff at Maryland. By the end of that first season, you heard fans talking about it being a “HBCU staff” and he’s “hiring his friend,” like these white boys ain’t doing that shyt 25/8. And on the low, some Black fans think just like they do and have less patience just like these crackers.

Gotta give Tomlin a lot of credit for constantly having black position coaches who go on to become coordinators. I think a major problem in the league is that a lot of black coaches get stuck as position coaches and never get that next shot. You need connections to take that next step though. The OP mentioned Dan Campbell...he was a position coach in New Orleans alongside Aaron Glenn. When he got the head coach job, he brought Glenn over to be our DC. And assuming Glenn gets a head coaching job this year, our next DC is likely gonna be our black LB coach, Kevin Sheppard. We just need more guys in position, that's all it boils down to really.

Way harder for black coaches to make any progress in offense. Traditionally black coaches have been pushed to defense. We're supposed to be the barking coaches who keep guys energized and ready to hit, whereas offense is the thinking man's job. That's the stereotype at least. Lot of black dudes stay WR/RB coaches and never sniff a promotion beyond that for instance.
