Melo was an aight mid range shooter in his prime
The "he old and un-athletic" responses don't really answer the question even tho both those things are true
his skillset was supposed to be tailor made for that inevitability and that's the gist of the point i'm getting from the op
Theoretically dude should be a serviceable stretch 4 at this stage of his career ala older rasheed wallace
he can't even do that

He's fat and has a 2 inch vertical now. That sort of effects your jumpshot.

I compared him to sheed, who barely got off the ground with his J towards the end. Zach randolph is older, fatter, and damn near no vertical and put better efficiency numbers than melo this year

Melo still plays like he's 25 instead of 34. It's cringeworthy to see him drive to the hole only to get stuffed and he tries to figure out what happened.

Father Time is undefeated (expect for LeBron who still looks like a 22 year old)

Wade, Melo, Kobe, Dirk, TD, KG, they all turned flabby in their late 30s and can’t be in shape like the young guys.

Bron probably has the GOAT genes. Scientists need to study him
That wasn't his question .

Melo had an all around game he could do it all so in reality he should still be productive .

He had a three , post up , mid range and could drive .

The answer is him not taking care of his body :

Rasheed was 7ft, Melo is 6'8"? that makes a difference when you can't jump.
