How come white players like Jokic and Luka don’t translate to increased viewership and ratings for the NBA?

Being from America counts big.

When somebody famous plays against your high school, there's that connection. Additionally, cats be posting their highlights on youtube and you know how extra American fans are at games when it cuts to the crowd.

Mac McClung a known name because he was highlight dunking on local high schools and getting hyped statesidexx.

International players don't got the same connection, they come from places and cultures we're unfamiliar with which is why the league getting more international ain't necessarily skyrocketing domestic views. Nobody really knows of these cats unless you're a straight up generational freak before the draft.

NFL in comparison nearly everyone comes from America so instantaneously there's a big connection: you or your friends/co-workers know the areas these cats came from.

White ppl that love the nba already love it.

Those guys aren't bringing in casual white fans other than some female fans.
Please believe me there are millions of white basketball fans that don’t have a “reason” to follow the NBA

A great white player would have a Tiger woods effect for the NBA.

Imagine if Tyler Herro was as good as Luka. He would be the most popular player in the nba

My Pops Forever RIP
This goes to my theory that going straight to the g league out of high school is corny

Going to college gives you story, media following and a built in fanbase.
Jalen Green has a built in fanbase without ever going to college.

No young hooper under the age of 25 has a bigger female fanbase than Jalen Green.

Going to college SHOULD give you those things by default because that's a fanbase that generally roots for laundry. For example, it doesn't matter how many trash ass basketball players come from Syracuse. @Loose gonna ride out because they rep the school. Same with me and UNC or the ones who rep Duke.

I’m saying that every Jokic and Luka thread has keyboard militants in there talking about cac this cac that. The white media just wanna crown them and minimize black athletes talk

I don't know about that but i'm sure some in white media will take them above a black European or American , thats generally how casual racism works, obviously a white American above all.

Being domestic does count.

Mac McClung a known name because he was highlight dunking on local high schools and getting hyped up here.

When somebody comes from somewhere internationally, they don't got the same connection, which is why the league getting more international ain't necessarily skyrocketing domestic views. Nobody really knows these cats unless you're a straight up generational freak before the draft.

NFL in comparison nearly everyone comes from America so instantaneously there's a big connection.
And everyone goes to college so they have a built in following by being an alumni

Matt McClung was an internet sensation in high school and people that he was going to make Georgetown great again.

MM dunk contest would not have this type of engagement if he was a euro

That’s true because Green because we have access to so much High School and AAU content these days

He still would’ve benefited by going to college.

Don’t you think going to college helped Embiid and Wiggins?

Above the fray.
These 2 are the best white players the nba has seen since Durk.

They both are getting huge narrative and legacy pushes by white media

But how come they aren’t featured in all the Thursday and Saturday night showcase slots?

How come I don’t see all the social media clips of white boys playing like Jokic and Luka

:unimpressed:

Article I read pointed out that Luka is only top 5 seller without a ring.

Joker's game is not highlight friendly, like Luka, but league and franchise makes a lot of money from them

Mavs and Nuggets are in top ten for home attendence numbers

Isn’t this team base specific too?

I’m sure Milwaukee is responsible for most of Giannis jerseys where a Curry and Bron jersey is on every boy in americas Christmas list

Casual fans don’t care about college basketball unless it’s March. College basketball doesn’t create stars anymore

And when you consider that the top recruits only stay for one year, that just adds on to it.

I do agree with the premise though that Luka, Jokic, Giannis, Embiid would be bigger in America if they were American

If white people just wanted to see white athletes they would watch hockey.

White players are really only a draw when there is a “race war” rivalry angle like in boxing or Celtics vs Lakers. Dirk vs The Heatles had some of that :mjpls:
This as well.

Those Mahomes vs Burrow/Allen games are basically fueled by this stuff.

Black American vs White American. Centuries old tale in this country.
